Just curious

I'm just curious, how many meals does everyone eat each day? I hear of people eating 3 plus 1 or 2 snacks as well as just 3 meals a day, no snacks. I'm trying to set a schedule for myself and I am honestly rarely hungry, however if I only eat when I'm hungry, I wouldn't get much protein in. I feel like I am doing something wrong if I eat even though I am not hungry, but know I need at least 60 grams of protein each day.

Any suggestions or advice?

Hi Kristy:

I am RNY 2.5 years post-op so I don't know if my life style change can be compared with your journey but I tend to eat about every 3-4 hours. Protein first making sure I get my fruits/veggies and some dairy in the mix and drink water in between meals. I am not in a pattern and this morning I had tossed salad with some lean ham/cheese/boiled egg whites/peppers/tomatoes for breakfast - sometimes I will have a yogart in the evening. Everything has been going great these first two years but now I have found myself gaining so I am re-looking at portions and trying to write things down again.

My dr. gave me a minimum amount I needed to eat when I was in the not-hungry phase to make sure I stayed healthy and I would eat that much even if I was not hungry to keep up my energy and health. Not sure if that helped but I wish you success on your journey!

Hi Kristy and welcome to OH.  I go through phases where sometimes I'm overly hungry and sometimes I'm not.   I may start out eating maybe only two meals and the rest of the day my intake is protein drinks.  When I am on point I do have three meals and three snacks.

I work the evening shift (5p-1:30a) so I eat according to my sleeping schedule and my work schedule. I don't have to tell you that every bodys journey is not the same.  My advice to you is to follow your own body and set your own eating schedule.

I try to get about 90 Gm of protein each day. I have to rely on protein drinks to do that. I eat three meals and have 3 snacks of protein drinks or bar each day. This gives me about 1200 calories each day which is what my doc says I should be eating to keep losing weight but slowly.
