What Holiday foods are your bane?

I just snagged some pork and veggies for lunch... they had left over items from yesterday's "thanksgiving dinner".... and I grabbed some pickled mixed veggies with my other greens. It got me thinking about the dinner table next week, and what little things are on it that I find myself picking on. Not necessarily to my regret, as most of them are not exceedlingly bad for me. But it only seems to happen around the holiday table! So I'm curious about the bane of your holiday table, and I'll share mine.

Mixed pickles/onions/cauliflour
Black olives
Baby gerkins
Butternut squash
Mom's stuffing
Mom's blender drinks (for the after party/left overs party)

And my holiday topper I can't do without::

French meat pie with ketchup. (that's been reduced to a sliver of one these days)

The bane of my holidays are:
pecan pie with french vanilla ice cream
Bread pudding
olives and gerkins
homemade noodles
stuffing

Unfortunately most of this stuff is slider and I can eat lots!

I'll be skipping them all this year.

Hi Sion,

Any and all!!!  Ha.  It would be easier for me to tell you what isn't than is!

Stuffing
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Green bean casserole with extra french fried onions
Rolls with butter
(Hmmm, see a pattern here - carbs, carbs, fats and more carbs & fats)
Sweet potato casserole with brown sugar topping
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie

Only thing I'm having this year from this list is some stuffing and 1 small spoon of green bean casserole with light french fried onions (no extras)

Great thread!!

hmmm...there is a huge advantage to not having a thanksgivign celebration over here followed by christmas just a month later - I can avoid all these foods for another month!!

Still feel like we are missing out big time on it though (and that's not talking food wise either)

Have a great thanksgiving everyone

One of my worst:  homemade Chex Mix.  It's a staple around here during the holidays, and I'm flat-out addicted to it.  Not so horrible if in moderation, but that's not what I'm talking about!

Always,
Jo
