What's Thanksgiving
What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word THANSGIVING? Be honest now - isn't it F O O D (even Forbidden Food) ?
But when you list the things you are thankful far - is Forbidden Food even on your list? I doubt that it is. Many many of those *****sponded to Kathy, listed their WLS - so, let's use that tool!!!! not waste it!!!! Let's enjoy our families and friends this holiday season - and that sure doesn't mean we have to EAT wildly. Feel the healthy love - not the sick cravings. I;'ve never known anyone to fall over dead if they did not pig out at the Thanksgiving feast - but have known people who keeled over dead because they over ate and over ate and over ate over time.
Do any of you remember the sogn - 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover? (Of course, at my tender age of 77, I don't really remember it - but I've heard of it LOL)
Check out the 50 responses to Kathy's What Are You Thankful For article in the OH Monthly Newsletter (If you haven't already subscribed, I suggest you do) And yes, we often treat food as our lover. It's time to leave our fantasy lover and come into the real world of loving ourselves enough to do WHATEVER it takes to meet our needs - and Forbidden Food isn't even on the list of our needs.
Give this some serious thought. and here's to a HAPPY COMPLIANT THANKSGIV9NG to one and all

Hi Happy,
As always, you're right on the mark with your post. I laughed at the first paragraph in your post because I just wrote my handout yesterday and check out the first paragraph:
"What comes to your mind when you think of Thanksgiving? Do you have visions dancing in your head of sweet potato casserole, pecan pie and other holiday foods or non-food traditions? Thanksgiving is a special holiday. Is it all about food for you? For many of us before our surgery, it was a day of indulgences, taking a nap or laying on the couch for the majority of the day and then ending it with leftovers."
Our tool should be included in our things we are thankful for. For me, many of the things I am thankful for have come about as a result of my surgery.
As you suggested, I am going to take inspiration and make my goal for this Thanksgiving to fill myself with healthy love and not the sick cravings (that will make me sick!!).
I always get so much from your posts. Thank you for YOU!
Hugs, Cathy
