Honey, let's go out to eat    I hate it when I am trying to get back on track for my DH to call and say Honey I want to go eat out.  He works hard and if he is in the mood for something hey who am I to say no.  I had eaten really good during the day yesterday until dinner time.  I hate to go eat out, when we ask for healthy stuff they end up putting oil and such on the food.  You really don't know what you are eating unless you fix it.

We know when we are trying to get back on track our bodies go through a kinda detox for carbs, sugars and such.  You don't want to set yourself back from that.....  We went to a family resturant and I ordered the grilled salmon (no oil or butter) veggies (no oil or butter) and salad with LF dressing on the side.

They brought the fish swimming in oil, veggies in butter and Ranch dressing all over the salad.  I have watched those shows where they spit in your food if you send it back, fear set in  .  I used the napkin to wipe off some of the butter on the fish and didn't eat the veggies and salad.

We have to take control if we want to be successful.  I told my DH I was REALLY trying to get back on track and don't want to eat out until I feel I have control again.  He was very understanding and I feel good about not hearing those words "LETS EAT OUT"!

I have drank 2 glasses of water, ate my steal cut oats with scoop of vanilla whey protein and going to have another protein drink for a snack, lunch grilled chicken breast, protein shake for snack and not sure about dinner yet.

Still walking at least a mile while it's still nice.

Thanks everyone that have emailed and joined me, in our efforts to get it together before the holidays pack on another 10 pounds

Take care,
Kathy

See Jen, I think we have to talk about how did we get to this point.  You know when we were newbies, NO WAY!  We would have said thank you but NO    Now we are at a place where we have lost our resolve or maybe vision.    We have to get it back girlfriend.    We need to say no to the bad habits we are back to and YES to what we KNOW works.

I am not going out to eat until I have a handle on this again and if you need to let  your sweetheart know  you are trying to get back on track and next bring soup. grilled chicken or something like that.

WE can do it!!!!

Take care,
kathy

Reading my mind again, Kathy!  Geez, girl~fire that crystal ball!!  My husband's idea of dinner when I am busy with something is "out"~could be a sit down restaurant or Mickey D's..he doesn't care but it isn't good for his ever expanding waist line nor our childrens!!!

Part of my resolve to getting BOT was to realize that I do in fact, have to prepare two meals most nights.  Sometimes, my boys (not picky eaters by any means) will eat what I am making for myself (mostly chicken and veggies). Sometimes, they want macaroni (and who can blame them? I love pasta but don't eat it anymore).

I also have to eat alone.  I sit with my family every night but most times, I eat first without them.  I tend to eat slower, focus on what I am doing (which is eating and not everything else) and I don't over eat.  If the boys ask about why I am eating first, I will eat my protein alone and then my veggies with them.

Cut my carbs drastically yesterday (yay for me) focused on protein, and a lot of it.  Got in 100 ozs of fluids and okay....no exercise.  I broke two toes yesterday tripping over the wire to a game controller!!  Sidelined for a bit..but will be trying some upper body exercise or isotonic exercises from fittv or on demand.

Not going to gain 10 lbs, not going to gain 10 lbs, not going to gain 10 lbs....I figure if I say it enough, it won't happen!!

Thanks for a great thread~

OK, I know it's easier said than done, but you need to cook one time and the entire family eat healthy.  I know, I know, they are going to be kicking and screaming the entire way, but YOU are the boss, parent and they need this as much as you do....

Take you time, but when the time is right make it a family thing.

I found  this show on Dr. Phil to be great...

Kathy - Don't be shy    Be a brave little buckeroo.  Next time, stiffen that backbone, REFUSE the food - send it back - and tell them you MUST have it the way you originally ordered it.  Of course, it will take a million years for them to bring it out again, when they do if you are ready to leave ask for a "doggie box" and merrily walk out.

I have actually done this - trembled in my boots the whole time, but I got what I needed.

When I was in Weigh****chers we were told to tell the wait staff we could not eat it because we were allergic.  (We would break out in fat if we ate it.)

I believe you have told me - this isn't a marathon, it's a life style change - So, to reflect back to you, forgive yourself for being human, get back on track and celebrate  your re-dedication.

WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER - YES WE CAN

Hi Kathy,

You are so right about eating out.  Eating out is a big trigger for me.  I enter the door and my healthy food choices stay in the car locked up.  It has been a time for me to indulge and "go for it, we're eating out" or more accurately an excuse.

When I need to get back on track or feel a bit wobbly in my back on track journey, I don't go out to eat.  Sometimes I can hang strong but others I can't.  I know the difference and I proceed based on knowing where I'm at.

Thanks for sharing!!

Cathy

I am so there, I feel like I can handle it.  But I don't.  I feel like everyone should get to  eat what they want and not have to feel like there are one glass when it comes to me and food.

I was at lunch today with DH and thought to myself. There are so many WLS pt out there.  You would think these restaurant's would come up with a better menu.

Why the bed you ask.  I rather be sleeping!

I feel kinda proud because the last time we went out to eat, I got the salad with chicken breast and the dressing on the side. I had them put the croutons and feta on the side, also--had a little of the feta for taste, but no croutons. It was really yummy, and the wait staff was polite and accomodating. Don't be afraid to send food back--if you're polite, the risk of saliva-contamination is probably pretty low! :D

I completely understand what you are saying!
I have figured out a few things that i can eat at a few places.
We pretty much stick to those places.
but tonight we are probably going to carabbas!
which i love, but can overdo at times!
last time we went i only has 2 pieces of bread instead of the half a loaf i usually have!
maybe i will do even better tonight!

order things the way you need them!

take care,
teresa

I completely understand what you are saying about eating out Kathy. My husband came home with cheeseburgers and fries last night because I have been sick for a week and he wanted to be nice so I didn't have to cook. I ate a cheeseburger without the top bun and a few french fries but just that little bit sat like a brick in my stomach all night.

I guess if it happens again I realize I am at home and have the choice to eat something else at the house and not what was brought home.
