Evening All,
Before deciding to get BOTT I learned something new. I should have known what causes me to eat comfort food or even recognize that when it happens but after all this time, weight loss surgery, diets, on line conversations and the like.... I find that the slightest dissappointments will trigger over eating. Case in point. I received a letter from my bank stating that a dispute I had was overturned and they were taking 12.50 out of my checking account. The money was there but it worked my nerves. I caught myself dealing with this annoyance by baking and eating 24 oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. For some strange reason this time it dawned on me exactly why. Nothing else happened to cause this relapse. I was astonished. Now that I know what can cause me to eat poorly I believe I have a better handle on it.
In the past I didn't even realize what I was doing or what caused it. The only thing I can say is learning late in the game is better than not learning at all. This helped me to feel that I am getting back control of my eating.
Did it take any of you a long time to learn what specifically triggers your over eating or poor eating decisions?

Z, we are all still learning every day - and, if we're mentally/emotionally healthy, we will keep learning more about ourselves the rest of our life.!!!!!
Now, forgive yourself for being human. Humans aren't perfect, humans make mistakes But - you were wise enough not to waste your mistake - you learned a very very VALUABLE lesson and that's a great thing One of my triggers is "You're not good enough" Well, let me share the truth with you (and remind myself for the gazillion millionth time) every one of us is "good enough" because we are being the very best person we can be at that instant - maybe 1 second before or 1 second after we might have been "better" but at that instant we were being the very best person we could be. What you learned here was how to protect yourself from a mistake in the future. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!

yes I have the same trigger! I am aware of it but it still catches me at times. Plus another trigger is boredom.
BUT realising it and having a lightbulb moment is wonderful because it means you can move forward from this. Revelation brings understanding which brings change if we allow it and learn from it.
