Summer's Gone and I'm Back!

Hi,  You may remember me from the beginning of the summer.  I did FIVE whole days before i jumped off the track.  I guess it was the all or nothing thinking.  Who knows.

I am back though.  I am making a pledge to write at least one post a day just to make sure I check in. Otherwise out of site, out of mind.

I have whey protein powder and am going to do mostly shakes, eggs, cottage cheese and soups.  I may try to make some protein balls for those weak moments.  Does this sound good?  I am NOT good at meal planning because basically I don't care what I eat so I just go for the tastiest thing around.  I also struggle with head hunger.  I have a lot of gum here.

Thanks for reading this!

Welcome back Amy   Don't know how it works for you, but I simply can't make it withouth planning my food - at least one day ahead of time (need to know what to prepare and bring to work for lunch) and I do even better planning 2 or 3 days ahead.  It's not that I never modify my plan, I do, but I stay within my calorie limit for that day.  That's one of my "rules" the other is to determine how many calories I need to eat (to lose or to maintain) and when I have consumed those I EAT NOTHING ELSE.  LiveStrong.com/thedailyplate/user/ works wonderfully for me.  Ignoring (or at least not giving in to) head hungry never killed anyone, but giving in and eating to obesity has killed lots of folks. I like the size I am - not the size I was and I try to keep that in mind when my head hungries rear their ugly heads

Again welcome back Will be watching for your posts  Thanks for allowing us to share your journey.

I think your ideas sound great, but you should still try to get some sort of solids in to fulfill that chewing/crunching need. Now it needn't be carbs or crackers or cookies. There's a great, easy crunch protein snack recipe I will share with you. Need not remain a secret. Its SO good too! Sorry Happy, I haven't found a good nuke recipe yet! lol

BAKED CHEESE CRAKLERS (Not cracklins, not crackers... somewhere in between)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grated hard cheese (such as Parmesean) - NOT the dried powdery stuff

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Note on type of cheese: You can use any kind, really, but the results will be different. Hard cheeses, such as Parmesan, Romano, Asagio, etc, will make a crisp "shell," whereas cheddar will be more chewy and "lacey" (the fat separates out), though still firm. Softer cheeses such as mozzerella will not work well.

Toss cheese with any seasonings you'd like -- garlic powder (about half a teaspoon for a cup of cheese), hot pepper powder, even cinnamon. Or leave plain.

Pile 1 to 4 Tablespoons of cheese (depending on the size you want) on a baking sheet covered with a silicone mat or parchment paper oiled on both sides. Flatten the tops so they are in more or less an even pile. There should be at least two inches between smaller mounds, 4 inches between larger ones.

Bake 5 to 6 minutes until they are a light golden brown (they will be a little darker at the edges). It happens fast, so watch carefully.

If you want to mold them into a shape, you want to "drape" them while still warm. You can make cups over an upturned glass, or "taco shell" shapes by draping over any cylindrical object that is at hand (rolling pin, side of glass)

Good grief Sion - I've nuked these for years.  Just put them on a paper plate and ZAP they were done - used sliced cheese and just cheese so not as elegant as yours - haven't done it for a long time though because of constipation.  But I do agree, yummy!  Didn't know everyone didn't do it.

Really?? How long! Full power? What sort of cheese do you use? I'd love a fast nuke-em cheese crckler out of the nuker for on the go snacks or at work snacks!

Hey Amy,

Welcome back..... I am basically new to bott but not to obesity......................
Listen just start again you can do it....... just go back to the basics........... I would try to get solid proteins though.... try to do some planning  at least the night before... ONE STEP AT A TIME.
I used to be the all or nothing girl..... now I am trying to eat some complex carbs instead of eliminating them like the plague...... you know taking out food groups or even food will not make this problem go away or any easier to deal with..... Try to make the tastiest things around you good solid protein ..... believe me I am not trying to tell you what to do..... just trying to help a sis.
we are all in this together.... we need each other.... I think the idea of posting everyday is a great idea.  I think I need to do that also......    I am looking forward to your posts... Eileen
