Still around...

Haven't been here or checked in for the past few days- but I have a really good reason!

Tuesday I was off of work - because I was running a little bit of a fever and just had a general feeling of blah.  Wednesday, I was feeling better - so I decided to work from home.  About mid afternoon, I started getting some nasty pain in my abdomen, so I logged out of the work system and went to lay down for a bit - thinking that perhaps it was a grouchy pouchy.

The pain never got better, even after a soak in the tub, and I had a really difficult time getting comfortable to try and sleep.  At midnight, I thought perhaps I should call my surgeon, so I did - and while waiting for them to call back, woke up my husband to get ready to take me to the ER.  When I talked to the doctor, he told me that if I was in that much pain, to head to the closest ER - it could be an internal hernia or blockage (which had me really scared).

I got to the ER - and got seen fairly quickly.  They took all kinds of blood, urine, and other tests, did a CT scan, and after reading everything, proclaimed that (thankfully) my innards were good- but I was the proud parent of a kidney stone.  So, they sent me home with some really good drugs, and instructions to call a urologist in the morning to get seen right away.

Yesterday, we called the urologist, who found a way to get us in first thing in the morning.  We went over, and after reading my scans and tests, and talking with me, told me that I was going to need immediate surgery to place a stint to help me pass the stones. (Stones??? turns out I have one ready to go, and 2 more in the wings waiting - ugh).  So, it was off to the hospital to get the stint placed.   While they were placing the stint, they determined that the stone 'on the way' was too big to pass, and had blocked my kidney from releasing any urine, which is why the pain was so bad.  The other two are too big to pass as well.  So, they're going to have me keep the stint in place for 10 days, and then after the aggrivation has calmed down some, they're going to go in and break up the stones with a laser and take them out.

So, now I'm home - resting as comfortably as I can, with instructions to drink a LOT of water.  I'm very very tired, and feel run down.  I am up a few pounds from all the IVs and my body fighting off this infection in my kidneys - but right now, I just don't care.  I know what's going on, and what the plan is, and that's a million times better than being scared to death that something requiring major surgery is going on.
  Day by Day.

Wowie, what a ride. My mom recently went through exactly the same situation, where she had a stint, and 3 courses of lazer treatment to break up her stones. Poor thing, I hope you feel better. Share some of those good drugs if you do.

Good grief Kelli - some people will do anything to have an excuse not to post LOL

Seriously, I'm so sorry you are in so much pain but thankful there is a light at the end of the tunnel and they can "fix" the problem.  Please, please take very good care of yourself.    And the silver lining in this black cloud is that they can fix the problem without major surgery.   Right now that is the first order of business for you - you have the rest of your life to get thin - and, knowing you, you WILL get thin.

Know you have my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Kellie :o(

You poor thing.  Thank goodness you went to the ER and got yourself checked out.  Give yourself plenty of TLC and lots of rest.
