Hello all,

I am 6 years post RNY.  I had my third child 9 mnths ago.  I weighed 168 at first doctors appt and had lost back to 170 at my final check up before returning to work after I had my baby.  That was great, but my problems is that I have now gained up to 175 and I gained alot in my legs and butt that I can't get rid of.  I'm 5'7 so I'm fairly tall, but in the past 2 weeks this has really gotten me down.  My 2 oldest children are in alot of sports and I work full time, so I don't have alot of me time and when I do it's folding clothes and doing the things I can't when I'm not at home.  It was easy for me to drop the weight after my surgery.  I walked some, but didn't have to put alot of effort into excercise.  I do not want to go back to where I was at 272 before surgery, but I feel like it's out of my control because if I had will power I wouldn't have needed the surgery right.  If there is anyone out there that can tell me what I can do or something that worked for them to get me motivated, please share.  I am in a size 14 now, slowly moving into a 16 and I'm really depressed over this.  I have so many size 10's that I can't wear.  My legs are the worst because my waist is small and one size might fit in my waist, but in my legs it's to tight.  PLEASE ANYONE HELP ME, I'VE COME TO FAR AND 6 YEARS LATER TO GO BACK WHERE I WAS.

Welcome to BOTT gnorton75.  We are here because most of have had a weight regain and we're here to get back on track.  If you have not already done so you might find it helpful to go back to basics.  Your exercise and eating is key and very important.  You can also review Getting Back  On Track Together Guidelines which has a lot of valuable and important information that you may have forgotten.  Go back to journaling you food and your thoughts.  Visit us here with any questions or situations you are facing.  There is always someone here willing to answer your questions and to offer support.

You've already made the first step, and that's the most important step to getting back on track.  Again welcome!

Hi and welcome!

We've all been where you are, or we wouldn't be here. Having the surger was meant to be a tool to assist you in finding the will power within yourself to help you keep losing and maintain. But not all of us caught on fast enough. There is still hope. You still have your tool, and with small steps, and a little extra effort on your end, I think you can start to see results in a week or two.

Many times, we are caught up in a routine that is comfortable for us. Be it eating, home life, the general cycle of our in and out day... With two kids it may he bard, but not impossible to throw a wrench in the works. And I mean that in a productive way. Think about how your normal day goes. When is your down time? Does this down time equal a trouble time for eating? When is your best time to resist temptation for eating?  For me, its the morning. I never feel hungry in the morning. So instead of taking my down time at night, I do it first thing in the morning, which allows me to resist untimely snacking. At night, I do my chores, fold the clothes, clean, and get in some sit-ups, push-ups... little things here and there, just something extra I wouldn't normally do.

Also, getting yourself back to basics and on track with your intake will be very useful. Do a 3 day liquid stint... It'll be hard as all heck, but it'll help kill those carby jitters and cravings, and remind you that you still have a tool, and it still works.

I'm sure many others will offer up a response, but please stick around, even if just to lurk. We're all here for each other, and we can BOTT.

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement.  I didn't think I would even be able to have the surgery in the first place, but God blessed me and I was able to get it.  That's why I'm so disappointed with myself because I was given a second chance and I feel like I'm not deserving of it now that I've let myself put on this weight.  I have started my water and am going to implement as much as possible in my daily routine with work and my kids.  I know I need to start walking, but I just don't know where I'm gonna fit that in.  Are there any types of leg exercises I can do that would get rid of these saddle bags on my legs.  LOL that's what I call them anyway.  I will definitely stay tuned into BOTT because I know that there are people here that care and are willing to help others in need. God bless and I hope to hear from someone soon!!!

Great anti-saddlebag exercises are located in the Thanksgiving Pledge - Sub Challenge Week 2 thread I posted. Excellent for thighs and butts. And they're very easy to fit into your daily routine! Give em a go!

Not deserving - pooo!  Of course you're deserving!   We're all deserving.  You're problem is you are human - now I'll grant you being human is a terrible inconvenience because humans aren't perfect - but you know what, we're all more or less stuck with that situation LOL

It's not like youre the only one who has ever regained weight - as you have read here - we've all been there and done that or we wouldn't be here.  So - here's a great big WELCOME to you

I am 3 1/2 yrs + out and at about 2 yrs out I ganined 30-35 pounds (and I don't have the luxury of your height - I'm 5 foot 0 inches)   Today marks the 18th day I've been at goal weight or a little below.  That may not seem impressive to you because you kept yours off so well for such a long time (if you did it once you can do it again) but that is a record for me as I've never gone that long after losing weight before I started to regain it.  If I can do it, anyone can do it.

Now, let's take a look at reality -  Let's see:  You are still only one person, you live in the same house (if not, I'm guessing you live in a larger house), there are still only 24 hours in a day OK - now you not only have a husband and two children, you've added another little person who is very high maintenance.  Yet, you are demanding you do as much as before + adding a person.  Sounds to me like there is a distinct possibility that you are making impossible demands on yourself - to be superperson, super employee, superwife, and supermom.  You've used up your reserve - you'e trying to pour out of an empty pitcher.  The most unselfish thing you can do is to get your needs met - if you don't you just can't meet other folks needs.

So-- how might you be able to do it?  Of course, that's always an individual thing but let's look at some generalities.  Maybe make 4 lists - This MUST be done today - This needs to be done SOON, but maybe not today, It would be nice if this was done fairly soon, but not essential, and It would nice to get this done, but the world really isn't going to come to an end if it NEVER gets done.  Then procede to check them off apropriately.  Learn to set limits - those other folks in your life - they do not have to have you provide EVERYTHING they want - an important part of parenting is to help our children (and sometimes we have to help our husband LOL) learn to consider other people.  Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do for our children is to tell them "No".

In the beginning, I'm guessing you were a lot like me - wild horses couldn't have kept you from following the guidelines.  Right?  Go back there and remember how motivated you were to use your new tool and how thankful you were to have your new tool to use.  Go back there.  Love and respect yourself

I know I could never have gotten back on track/stayed on track to reach my goal weight again without the caring, support, acceptance, and help of the people on this web site.  I call them my angels in disguise as humans.  If you're comfortable, post often and allow us to share your journey with you.

Again, welcome

OMG, thank you so much.  Everything you said made since and you are very correct about it.  I'm gonna start day by day and try to make better food choices and add all of the water back every day.  I will be checking in often and will post my results when I have some LOL.  Thank you all so much for listening and answering me.
