Did I fail my tool??????

I am almost 2yrs out and have lost 66lbs.  I started at 314 and i am now 248lbs. I lost those 66lbs in the first four months after surgery.  Here it is nearly 20 months later and not a pound lost. I still weigh 248. I am so greatful for those 66lbs gone but really need to loose about 100lbs more.  What did I do wrong?  I exercise 5 days a week. 30 mins cardo and 30-45 mins resistance training. I eat rice or dream fields pasta maybe once a month. I take all my vitamins and eat about 60-80 grms of protein a day. I drink about 65-80 oz of fluids. never drink soda or drink with my meals. After eating i feel full for about 30 mins or so then i am hungry again.  I don't know what to do and what i did wrong. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Sometimes, when we find ourselves in the unending stall, the best thing we can do is completely change the routine. It sounds like your body has adjusted to the new way it works, and has found balance with your current caloric intake vs burn. Its time to shock the system and throw it completely out of whack, and allow it to begin losing again. Some suggestions to try to do this...

Back to Basics -

Start as if it were back to post-op when you just got back from surgery. Full liquids and try to avoid carbs and very solid foods. Slowly work your way back into the extremely healthy style of eating you were in 4 months ago.

5 Day Pouch Test -

I'm not exactly an advocate, but many members here have found it a good way to jump-start the system. www.5daypouchtest.com

Throw your system into Ketosis -

Completely cut out carbs, no more than 10 carbs a day. Extremely heavy protein and insoluble fiber. This will put your system into Ketosis, explicitly burning excess fat for the energy you are lacking from carbs. You can find a great way to do this in the Adkins Step 1 diet.

Keep posting here! -

We will all have different suggestions. Its up to you to try them and find something that can and will work for you if you dedicate to it. We're all very happy to have you here, and support whatever you want to try!

I know you will get many more helpful posts in due course, I'm just the sort of sad lonely geek that trolls the boards incessantly, and tends to respond first to things because of it.   After work, many more responses will come, and I'm sure they'll have some great insight.

I suggest you bring ALL the suggestions you get here to your surgeon tomorrow, and see if he has a suggestion on which might be best for you.

First of all, welcome!

You've already been given some great ideas, but I'll be interested to hear what your surgeon says.  Please let us know, as I'm sure some of us could benefit from the info

Thanks

This is puzzling.  I think the 1st reply was good with some options to think about & tell your surgeon tomorrow.  We'll be curious to see what he/she has to say.  There's always a possibility that there's some kind of mechanical failure w/ your surgery--doesn't happen real often, but often enough to question.

I admire you that you haven't GAINED while trying to be patient and continue losing.  Be sure to report back to us!

Always,
Jo

I would rule out any medical reasons for not losing more before beating yourself up and taking the blame.  Be sure and log everything that goes in your mouth and provide it to your surgeon.

We are here for you and please keep us posted

Take care,
Kathy

First things first...check with the dr...then...

I did the 5 day pouch test and it got me kickstarted again.  No processed carbs have crossed my lips since August 21.  I have lost 9 pounds as of today!

Keep in mind that we have all been at the point you are now, or we would not be here

Let us know what happens - we will be here to help!
