Back On Track Together

So Excited!!

Woohoo!!!  Well, my hard work is paying off.  I've lost 4 pounds this week and I'm so proud of myself.  I'm down to 421.  Just needing a little support right now.  It's really hard on me to only eat when I'm hungry.....I tend to have emotional overeating problems.

I can't wait to see my doctor today.  It is today that I will start my 6-month supervised diet.  I started a little early....but I did it for myself.  I'll let him know.  I'm also going to ask him about taking Phentermine for the hungry  "all the time" feelings.  Sometimes I feel hungry all day....at least more often than I think I should.  I figured if it's not too expensive I'll take it for a little while just until I can get back on track with eating healthy for me again.  Then I won't take it anymore.

I'm still working on those baby steps.  But they sure are hard sometimes.  They sometimes seem like giant leaps.

I would love any words of encouragement to help keep me going.  Please don't bash me for wanting to take something that might help.

Bash? HARDLY! I'm actually curious. Is it an appetite suppressant or something? I'd love to learn about what you have to say about it, and let us know what the doc says.

Congrats on your 4 lbs! In a week is pretty astonishing, way to go! I hope to lose that much in 2 weeks, right now. But I'm trying really hard not to look at the scale.

Those hungry all the time feelings, are they really physical hunger? Or do you think it might be 'head hunger' kicking you when you're stressing or depressed? I would eat for comfort (still make that mistake sometimes). Sometimes I swear my body fools me into thinking I'm hungry. I'll get a little gurgle from the gut, or some shakes or a little dizzy... but I know I just ate, and I know I took my vitamines, so there's no reason I should have hunger... that's when I drink lots of water or have a coffee. I find coffee to be a huge help to supress those hungry feelings.

Keep up the good work, Julie. We're looking forward to hearing more success stories!

First of all Julie let me congratulate you on the 4lb. weight loss. I just want to say please be careful in choosing appetite suppressants.

Fen Phen/Phentermine

Fen-Phen is a prescription diet drug combo that was used for many years to control appetite. The two drugs that make up the combination are fenfluramine (Pondimin) and phentermine (Ionamin). In addition, a drug known as Redux (dexfenfluramine) was also used.

The side effects of Fen-Phen diet pills include heart valve damage and primary pulmonary hypertension which is a narrowing of the blood vessels in the lungs, which lead to higher blood pressure and possible heart failure.

Fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine are no longer sold after studies began to show the deadly health complications the diet drug causes. A 1997 study conducted by the Mayo Clinic found 30% of Fen Phen users in their study had developed heart valve problems that can lead to heart failure and death.

Fen Phen manufacturer American Home Products (now Wyeth) knew about the serious health complications but continued to make Fen Phen available to the public and failed to properly warn patients and their doctors. In response to the numerous lawsuits filed on behalf of people who were harmed by Fen-Phen, the manufacturers of the diet pill drug settled a nationwide lawsuit for $3.75 billion for individuals with valve damage.

Be careful, I did sustain heart valve damage from using this product!

jd - Don't ever fear "bashing" here - it's not going to happen I'm happy to say   What you'll find here is caring, understanding (we've all been there and done that or we wouldn't be here), support and acceptance.  It's what make the site so helpful (read that ESSENTIAL) for me.  I would never have gotten back on track/reached my goal weight again without their support and caring.  It's here for all of us who will accept it.

If you're comfortable, post often and allow us to be a part of your journey - it's so good to have you here!!!!!! You're a real inspiration to all of us - four pounds, WOW  Won't happen every week but it sure is grand when it does!!!!

As far as the Phentramine goes, please be carefull with ANY appitite suppressor. The harm that can come from taking them far outwieghs any good you might experience.

Again, congrats on the job so far and keep doing the right thing.
