Back On Track Together
September Goals
I have decided that I needed to set a goal for September. Right now, my ultimate goal is to have lost 100 lbs total by my surgiversary date (12/8/09) That means I have about 40 pounds to go. I won't lose all of that in a month, but I'd like to lose 10-15 each month, and I think if I work it hard enough I should be able to do it. In order to get there, I know that I need to do some things in order to make it happen. So, for the next 30 days I will strive to do the following:
* Log EVERYTHING in my food journal (item, calories, protein, and carb) (No matter how embarassing or badly planned it may be) (I already do this, I want to keep myself motivated to 'keep going')
* Drink at least 3 liters of water a day. (That's about 12 servings) (I've been working my way up to this, and am pretty close right now)
* Hit the gym at least 3 times a week for cardio on the tread mill, 1 time a week for weight training, and one night of yoga a week
* Try 1 new bariatric recipe a week.
I am posting this here because I find that I'm more accountable to my plans if someone else knows what I'm doing. If someone wants a 'buddy' to help them through the month, by all means, let me know, I'm willing to give support to anyone who needs it. If someone wants to 'keep an eye on me', let me know :)
I try to blog daily - (my website is sortingthoughts.us) I don't always get there, for one reason or another, but that's another thing I'm trying to do this month. I will blog my daily successes or obstacles, as well as how I'm doing, what I'm thinking, and how I'm feeling.
Feel free to post your goals for the month in this thread :)
Have a GREAT September!

Hi!
I'm thinking the same thing -- I'd like to be back down to my lowest weight by my surgery date (12/21). I had just had baby #2 six weeks before last year's annual weigh-in, so I want to show my Dr. that I'm still working hard and committed (and boy that 20 pounds gone would make my knees very, very happy).
I've become blog-happy and I find that obsessing about what I 'm eating keeps me from eating the bad stuff (microwave popcorn is my #1 enemy).
I'm aiming to be down a solid 7 pounds by the end of September and like to increase my water intake to 8 glasses/day. I drank 6 glasses today and it felt like I drank the entire ocean.. !!
What a great way to start the Fall!!

"Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that."
Jessie - my surgery date was just two days after yours!!!! I didn't have a baby, but I did gain about 30-35 pounds of the 100+ I lost and I am so excited and happy because two days ago I was at goal weight again. I know I couldn't have done it without the caring and support from people on this site. It's good to have you here with us
Kelli - You give us all support and inspiration just by being here and allowing us to share your journey. I know you can (and WILL) stay on track with your September goals. They are mighty ambitious!!!!!!
My goal is to maintain - have never before gone a month after completing my dieti my goal weight of the time before I began to regain all that I lost plus more before I went on the next diet. This time I believe I can maintain for years because I know what I need to do and how to do it. That combined with BOTT POWER will see me through to success!!!! Thanks for being a part of that BOTT POWER!!!

I too want to basically start fresh and would be willing to be yours or any one elses buddy. Altough I started taking my protein and some of the vitamins I have a long way to go to get back on track. The weight loss needs to pick up again and in order for that to happen I have a lot to do for myself.

Kellie,
Thanks for posting this. I think if small goals are set each month, it might make it easier to stick to and reach our goal. I know when I was overweight and even still a little bit now, I want the "instant gratification". I want for the weight to come off as fast as it did during my honeymoon period. While that is not possilbe, it isn't IMPOSSIBLE for me to drop weight a little bit faster than the normal person.
Yesterday I decided to set small goals for myself every two weeks. However, I will change that to two every month starting today so I can be one of your many support buddies on this thread. I will be posting everyday on the Cafe and Cardio what my two goals for the month are. This will help me see it in writing and commit to it. I believe in what Cathy says about committing to my fellow BOTTers and having a chance to stick to it better.
Maybe we should do a check in every week to see where we are all with out goals and see if extra motivation is needed to stay BOTT.
Goals for this month:
106 oz water (1/2 my body weight)
Reduce my cals from the 1596 livestrong says to 1000 daily
GOOD LUCK everyone!! We CAN do this togather !!

Wow, what a great idea for a post, Kellie! I think I'd like to join you all in our goal setting. I also say, we check in maybe on the 15th and 30th to see how it all is going/went. Sound good?
Lets see, I've definately made some big lifestyle changes in the last 7 days, and started to implement them, so I think I can try listing them and see if I can keep up with them all month long.
- Walk the track at work EVERY day, at least 2 laps (do laps inside if weather doesn't permit the track). I am also wearing a pedometer, and striving for 1000 more steps every few days until I've worked up to 10,000.
- Drink more water/crystal light. I have bought a 32 oz water bottle with this little icey cooler insert that keeps it cold for hours. I'd been drinking water but less and less because I realized I was getting sick of it, so I've started back on crystal light. I aim to drink 2 bottles worth a day.
- Eat better food, less calories. I slipped a bit from stress, but the stress isn't going away, so that can't be an excuse anymore.
- Try to feel good about something every day, whether an accomplishment, or just nice weather, find a reason to smile, take a deep breath, and feel good.
That's all I got right now, but I think they're pretty good.

36 lbs from goal!
Goals for September:
* Use my elipical machine or do some exercise 20 mins a day.
* Cut down on my carbs and increase my protein
* Stop grazing!
* Lose 5 lbs
The hardest part is the exercise. I have not exercised on a regular basis for almost a year. I know it is a matter of making it a habit, but I always have an excuse.
Thanks for inspiring me to make the goals.
