Hello Everyone,

I'm so glad to be part of the BOTT group.

I had my RNY Gastric Bypass on August 11, 2004.  I weighed almost 500 pounds then.  I lost about 222 pounds.  Then about 2 years ago I got pregnant.  I was so afraid my baby would not get enough nutrition that I started eating more than I should.  I gained quiet a bit during pregnancy.  Then after I had my baby girl I kept eating.  Part of it was post-partum depression because my little girl was so sick when she was born I almost lost her.  I ate and ate.  And now, as of last Wednesday, I weigh 425.8 pounds.

Now I'm really depressed about it.  But I've decided to get back on track if I can.  I've been really bad at work having cookies at my break time.  I've cut those out this past week...except for one day.  I'm thinking I'll start that 5 day plan....can't remember the name of it.  But if anyone has the information for that would you please let me know??  I know the first two days are liquids...I think.

Also, I'm wanting to have a revision done to my surgery.  But I have to be on a six-month supervised diet with my regular doctor before they will even consider letting me have surgery.  So I see my regular doctor on 9/2.  But I want to start losing now.

One thing I must work on is my drinking with my eating.  I've always done it, but I'm willing to learn to stop doing that.

I could just keep on going, but I'll shut my trap for now.  Thanks for letting me be part of this great group.

Hello Julie and welcome to BOTT.  The plan that you are speaking of is the 5 Day Pouch Test which can be accessed by www.5dpt.com.  The 5 day pouch test is pretty hard to do especially if you're use to eating during the day.  Getting back on track is never easy, but if I may suggest if you haven't already done so to read Getting Back on Track Guidelines and Information.  It offers a much more do-able, and senisble eatting plan.  Going cold turkey so to speak with 5DPT, you may want to do later, but I think you can do this because you've made the first step.  We look forward to seeing you here on the boards.

Remember Protein first, exercise, water, journal your food & rest.  Don't forget your med's!

Genie,

Thank you so much.  This is exactly what I was talking about.  The 5 day plan may be hard, but I have faith that I can do it.  I may wait and do it a little later on.  But I'm trying to get my eating under more control now.

Thanks for the support.

 Hey Julie,
I just recently got back on track this week and have 80 pounds to go.  Like you, I had a baby and went "hog wild" for lack of a better term.
Why do you feel you need a revision?  Just do what you are supposed to do now and the tool is still there for you.  At least that is what people tell me.  I did threee days of nothing but liquid protein mixed with water.  It almost killed me!  But, I did get back on track and have lost about 7 pounds in the past five days.
I drank ALOT of pop.  I drank with meals.  I ate carbs like I was the only one buying them from the grocery store!  I ate candy bars and all!  But, now I just know I can eat and get full but I am making the wrong choices.
My hell, It is frustrating to have had this surgery and still feel like you  need to diet!  That is what I have been thinking.  I really have had to change my mindset and realize this is a TOOL and nothing more.
So, you can get back on track and do the right things, or cheat the system.  You know what you want to do or you wouldn't be here.  I would be honored to journey with you.
Yes, I know it is soooo hard for some of us to go without drink during eating.  AND I love my carbs...but, I love myself more!  I have to and so do you.
Let me know how you are doing and keep posting so we can help out!!!!!!

Thanks for responding.  A lot of what you said sounds like me.  My biggest problem is going to be to quit drinking when I eat.  I think I'm going to try giving up my Diet cokes too.  I usually only drink them at work and never at home.  I drink only water at  home.

Julie - WELCOME!  I am so proud of you for seeking out help.  We've all gotten off track (more than once) or we wouldn't be here. We understand and care.

I hope you find this group as helpful as I have.  I know without a doubt that I could never have gotten back/stayed on track without their understanding, acceptance, caring and support.  I call them angels in disguise as humans

I'm sure somewhere along the line they told you no carbonated beverages - potentially can stretch our opening.  You got excellent advice in the suggestion you go back and read - really read and take to heart - the guidelines Cathy has posted at the beginning of our message board.  Sounds as though you are like the rest of us - want an "instant cure"  You will be better served and much more likely to get on track - and more importantly, stay on track, if you choose a less drastic method.

If you feel comfortable, post often and allow us to share your journey as we share ours.

WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER - YES WE CAN

Again, Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a rerun to this site myself...on Day 5 of the 5 DPT...it really does work...i have already lost. 3 pounds...

I have almost completely eliminated carbs except the ones that come naturally in food.  No bread, rice, pasta, fruit...no soda at all...only indulgence I have kept is my Starbucks Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte - 160 Cal/14g carb...gotta have my starbucks...but my carb total for yesterday was 60...

Welcome...we can all do this together!!!

Thank you for the kind words.  I know I need to give up my Diet drinks.  And stay away from the bread.  I think that's one reason why I started gaining back my weight....that darn bread.  I love the stuff but it don't love me.

Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, Julie!!

You've made one of the hardest steps in this journey...deciding to get back on track. One of the things I always say is..think about why you had the surgery in the first place. To me, that is one of the biggest motivators for getting and staying on track. All of us have been or are there right now. This board is great for not beating you up  when you fall off the wagon. Everyone has off days at some point and time.

Welcome to the group!! Please join us in the Cafe and Cardio (if you feel comfortable). We meet there everyday to talk about what we're eating and what exercising we plan on doing. I think its a great way to stay accountable.

THanks for the welcome.  I remember wanting surgery so I could do things that I couldn't do before....and so I could live.  But now I have even more to live for...my little girl.
