5DPT...Not Too Well

How did I do...I must say, not too well.  I started the 5DPT yesterday, and I forgot that when I did the test before I did use the soups during the first two days.  I am/was a diabetic and while I don't have to use medication anymore my diet still plays a big part of my daily routine.  I ended up almost going into the what the doctor said was a diabetic shock; too much of a drastic change in my diet.  I got the shakes, became disoriented and my equilibrium was off.  This is what I had:
7a    Protein Shake & Coffee 20oz
9a    Protein Shake
10a  Water 16oz
11a Protein Shake

At 12 noon is when it hit me.  My co-workers said I stood up and look like I was confused and then I hit the floor.  I don't remember that, but I do remember how I felt.  So I did end up eating something yesterday, but it wasn't any carbs or junk food I can tell you that!

I'm going to try it again today...just using a different approach.

So sorry you had that experience. When I did the pouch test I kept a peeled orange or a few grapes around just in case I started to feel that way. It only takes a slice or two to fix me up but somewhere I read that is an issue for some of us.

Genie,

Man that had to be super-scary!!! Not a bad idea taking a different approach, but maybe you should give your body some time to recover from the shock it experienced yesterday.

Let me know if/when you're ready to try it again. I'll definitely have another go round with it.

Take care of yourself!!

Dreamgirl - please, please, please, take care of yourself first and foremost - not much satisfaction in being a skinny corpse LOL

Slow and easy wins the race (or at least that's what they'd have you believe )

You WILL get there - it may just take you a little bit longer.  Know I'm with you all the way cheering you on.

I'll be watching for you to report in today.

I have reactive hypo - and I noticed that the shakes without a fat - makes me crash.

i was reading that the proteins can turn into sugar.  fat is what keeps my body leveled.

So maybe - next time - try to add some fat to the mix? not carbs but fat.  Just a suggestion.

i.e. i like my coffee - but I need to have some food (1 tsp of nut butter does it for me)  or the coffee makes me crash.
i also switched form Skim milk to whole milk or cream (just use less off it  - for my coffee) calories are the same - but I feel much better.
