Distraction Activities
Here's a list of suggestions for ways to distract yourself when you are wanting to eat. It's from the book THE BECK DIET SOLUTION by Judith Beck.
Brush your teeth
Polish your nails
Reread parts of this book (or any book you've found helpful)
Call a friend (or post on BOTT)
Talk to a neighbor or co-worker
Go to the store (beware of this one - probably not a good time to grocery shop)
Play with a child or pet (or go to the park and play on the swings with all the joy of a 3 year old)
Ride your bicycle
Go for a walk or exercise
Read or write e-mail
Take a bath or shower
Do a crafts project
Put together a puzzle
Practice a musical instrument (or sing at the top of your lungs)
Tinker with the car (not a good thing for the car if I were to do this LOL)
Work in the garden or yard
Put photos in an album (or scrap book)
Do a specific chore - such as clean out a desk drawer
Putter around the house - such as change light bulbs, replace smoke detector batteries, etc
Surf the Internet - keep a running list of things you've always wanted to look up and save them for these times
Just a few ideas - how about sharing with us what you do at these times?

Trina - Whatever you are doing it is working!!!! Your progress is spectacular
Isn't it amazing how often times it is the simpler things that help the most. sometimes when I'm running in my "feelier" mode and doing things that doin't make sense to my "thinker" it helps me to start with 100 and count backwards by 7. Now I barely know my 7's forward and I sure don't know them backward (I can go 100 - 93 - and then I have to start thinking big time LOL)
Mind games - you bet, but hey we are masters at mind games the difference is that now we are using them in a positive way where in the past we used them in a negative way.
Keep up whatever you are doing for it sure is working. I'm so proud of you
