Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Ok...color me frustrated.  As many of you know, I had sclerotherapy on July 6th to correct an enlarged stoma.   I went from 187 pounds to 173.6 between July 6th and August 3rd.  After that, I have noticed a steady increase in my weight.  I am now at 177.
I am eating exactly what I am supposed to be eating and walking at least 90 minutes per day (three  30 minute walks....each covering 2 miles)

I am averaging 850 calories per day ......at least 75 grams of protein.  So......what in the world is going on????       ginny

Hi Virginia,
It sounds like you're not consuming enough calorie wise to allow for the amount of calories that you're burning while exercising.  Depending on the level of exercising you're doing you should be consuming anywhere from 1200/1500 or more calories a day.  Not eating enough is as bad as eating too much.

Thanks for the input!   I thought that since I was getting an appropriate amount of protein that I was probably ok.   I'll try upping the calories.  I see my nutritionist next week, but I thought I'd check in with the wise folks here too!

When I log my food in Calorie King I also log my exercise.  According to Calorie King is you're walking on the treadmill as follows this is what you're burning:

3mph x 30mins =  129 cals @ 90mins is 387 cals
3.5mph x 30mins = 148 cals @ 90mins is 444 cals &
4mph x 30mins = 195 cal @ 90 mins is 585 cals

If you subtract these numbers from your calorie intake of 850 calories per day, its not enough to substain you and your weight lost.

Thanks for the help.   I will discuss it with the nutritionist this week,

I agree with Dreamgirl - I was told I was not eating enough calories.  They asked me not to weigh for a month (I made it for 3 weeks LOL) as I might have a small gain in the beginning when I increased my calories and they knew if I did I would spook and cut back to my old inadequate level.  I use livestrong.com/thedailyplate (there are a lot of good tracking sites) and let it figure my caloric needs for me.   Good luck

Thanks.  It just seems so counter-intuitive.......I have heard it before and I have even told others that they probably aren't eating enough.   Guess its time to take my own advice and yours too!
