Back On Track Together
Friday Reflections! Did you miss summer???????
Hey Everyone
It seems like only yesterday I was posting here and celebrating the coming of summer. Thinking of all we could do to get Back On Track with the nice weather upon us. Here it is, August. Kids getting ready to get back to school and summer is winding down.
Did you take advantage of the nice weather and kick your program in high gear? Did you get back on track? Or did you indulge thinking it's summer what the hell?
I have discovered something about myself....I am not sure if it's brain damage, vitamin B shortage or just plain old age. I seem to be able to focus on one thing at a time successfully? When I focus on me I lose weight, hit the gym and baby look out there is no stopping me. When my husband was sick I rose to the occasion and was there for him. I am in the process of finishing painting the entire house, decorating and finishing up landscaping projects. It's looking good if I may say so.
Each and everyone of those projects (not to imply my husband's illness was a project) was done and done well by me, however...nothing else in my life was priority. I seem to push my personal needs to the back burner while I am being successful in the project at the time.
Do you find this to be true for you? If so, what did you do to get off this track? I need to find a way that no matter what is going on in my life, my food, exercise and me is "SIDE BY SIDE" with what is going on in my life...not on the top shelf in my closet to pull out when I am done with the latest project.
I told myself that all of this will be done in a month and then I can get back to me, but........in the mean time I missed summer
Take care,
Kathy

Remember - the most unselfish thing you can do is to get your needs met first. We aren't taught that but it's so true. We all have needs and if we won't be resonsible for getting them met (like putting ourselves first for example) then our "pitcher" eventually becomes empty. It's impossible to pour out of an empty pitcher - so we have nothing left to give to others (people or projects) So.....bottom line is DON'T MAKE PUTTING YOURSELF FIRST A PROJECT - MAKE PUTTING YOURSELF A GIVEN - kind of like getting out of bed when the alarm rings - you don't "vote" on it, it's just a given. Practice makes perfect. You're way ahead of the game because you know what you need to be practicing. Plus, you get to model healthy behavior at the same time. And give yourself a pat on the back for getting on with other projects. One of the ways I used to wiggle off the hook of doing things was to think "Who can expect me to ........................... (fill in the blank with a project) when I'm so hungry." then I'd pig out - more or less guilt free. (Somehow that doesn't work any more LOL) Wasn't it that good ole boy Shakespeare to penned the phrase "To think own self be true"? We all need to practice what he preached.
Bet you'd still be done in a month if you took good care of yourself during that month - they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive happenings. And Kathy, look at it this way, if you are smaller there will be less of you to get paint on so you'll be saving $$$$ (OK - I'll admit I really had to reach for that one LOL)
At any rate, Jump for Joy Because You're You
