I posted b4.  I had surgery in March.  Because of complications and problems I have been having with follow through I have to see the dietician and the doctor every  month.  Last month I didn't go because I was ashamed I made no progress.  I went yesterday.  I got lectured big time and I know I deserved it.  This time the doctor said that basically I was probably going to die because of malnurishment from not taking the vitamin suppliments, protein etc.    I haven't told anyone what she said except here.  I don't know what's wrong with me that I can't do this.  Obviously had we known this I would have never been approved for the surgery.  She even emailed me to take my protein this morning.  I want to do this right but don't know why I can't seem to.  My weight loss has slowed, I am losing hair etc.  Even though people still notice the weight loss and comment about it but some people like my family don't think I can do this.  I want to prove them wrong.  I went into this with all the best intentions but somehow I failed.

Jimi,

I'm not going to beat you up or lecture like your Dr. and dietician did. Think back to when you originally had this surgery. Why did you do it? Did you do it for yourself? Or to make someone else happy? Find whatever motivated you to have this surgery and hang onto that to get on track and stay on track. If proving your family wrong is going to motivate you to stay on track, then focus on that.

You are still in your "honeymoon period". This is the time to get to know yourself and your new body on its journey. Start journaling everyday and tracking your food. Come and post here.

You HAVE to get your protein in everyday. This isn't an option. I went about 3 years without doing it and now have to consume more protein to get myself where I need to be. There are a TON of websites available now that cater to bariatric eating and recipes. For instance, theworldaccordingtoeggface.com is a good site for recipes. They are in bariatric friendly portions and contain many different ways to use the powdered protein.

Jimi, please keep posting here and lurking on the boards. SUPPORT is one of the best motivators to keep us on track.

Jimi:

I agree with the person who posted previously, you need to look back and think about why you had the surgery in the first place.  For me, I want to see age 50 and I believe that had I not done something now at 45 I would be dead.

We had/have our problems associated with our obesity but is it worth it to take on a new set of problems from malnutrition?  I am having difficulty the past couple weeks trying to keep down all of the protein.  Since my surgery was just 7 weeks ago I know that it is a matter of my body adjusting to this new way of living and eating.  With that said and with all of the vomiting I have been doing I have no regrets for having the surgery.

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.  I feel so much better and believe me some of my worst days over the last 7 weeks were a lot better then some of my best days prior to surgery.

Start tracking your food intake and journaling daily.  I think you will find the release that you may need.  It will also help you get back on track.  Don't beat yourself up for this minor set back as life will always be filled with rough patches.  Just really think about what you really want from this journey and use that for your new goals.  We are all more than numbers on a scale and we are all worth it.  You can do anything and we are all here to give you support.

Good Luck and Best Wishes.

I think you need to realize you have not failed you have only gotten off track. The only way you can fail is to give up. You are still succeeding or you would not be on this website. You choose everyday. Stop looking at such a big picture and choose to make it through this one day by doing the right thing dont look back at  what you did wrong yesterday or what you are going to do tomorrow you only have control over today. You can make today a successful day that you feel good about.

Have you tried a different type of protein?  Do you drink coffee?  I bet that Click protein espresso stuff would work for you..  just replace your coffee with it..  and as for vitamins..  try relocating them...  Like near the remotes...  or put them in little baggies in your purse..  or if your work at a desk you can keep a dish right out in the open like Pam does...  anything to keep it on your mind...  oh and maybe try protein bars...

Negative thoughts and self destructive attitude loops aren't going to help at all..  think positive..  you did this to improve your life and be healthy...  the protein and the vitamins are part of that process..  You won't be perfect every day..  but pat yourself on the back on the days that you are..  You have lost a lot of weight so far..  it is going to slow..  don't panic...

Every time you start a negative thought loop..  go take your vitamins or your protein..  or get a bottle of water..  replace the negative with the positive..  it will get better if you keep trying..  don't give up..  I believe in you..

Hi, Jimi:

Wow....you have been given some wonderful advice on here!  I don't know what else I can contribute except to say that you have a terrific tool (WLS) and it is there for you to take advantage of.  Come on here and get the support you need, keep up with your doc and dietician, but most of all, know how important YOU ARE and re-focus on what it is you need to do to take care of yourself.  I cant't stress enough how very, very important it is that you make yourself a priority -- set up a plan that will work for you and make sure you include those vital supplements and your protein intake, not to mention fluids and exercise.  It really does work!  There will be times when you won't be 100%, and that is okay, we are all human, but keep at it....it is so worth it!

Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing how you are doing.  :)
