Back On Track Together
Re: My day 5 on the 5 day...
HI,
Yes, I did lose 12 pounds. I don't think that is an usual amount of weight to lose but I want you to know that my "train" had derailed and I was way far from being on any kind of track at all. Perhaps that is why I dropped so much weight.
I do not count calories and I never have. To lose, I have followed my surgeon's office suggestion of a 2 to 1 ratio of protein to carbs. So, if I consume 80 grams of carbs, I would have 40 grams of carbs or less to keep losing. My doc also says that a carb is a carb is a carb. With WLS there isn't anything as a net carb. BUT... every doctor has their own guidelines and if you ask 100 doctors, you will most likely get 100 different guidelines.
I consumed a minimun of 70 grams of protein on the 5 day with the only carbs being what was in my calorie countdown milk. The best part about the 5 day pouch test is that you lose the urge for "bad" carbs and your pouch shrinks and kind of feels like new again.
There are many different parts to the 5 day pouch test and the website has valuable info on it.

Congratulations! That is an amazing amount to lose and I am glad to hear that you are finding it has broken the carb cravings, etc. I have been toying with the idea of doing it myself, but keep talking myself out of it. Maybe I should do it next week.
What did you find to be the hardest part of it?
Hi,
To be totally honest, I couldn't find them on the website tonight but I do remember reading it on the site before. Day is and beyond is just back to basics like we did after surgery. Lean Protein and fresh vegetables and fruits. Eating protein first and having a couple of bites of good carbs. I usually eat 3-4 ounces of protein and have an ounce or two of veggies or fruit.
