Back On Track Together
Lab results
I got my lab results back yesterday afternoon. Needless to say I'm not all that thrilled by them. My protein and iron both were low.
My PA wants me to start taking two iron supplements a day. Also, she wants me to up my protein to 120g daily. Currently I am getting between 110-160g a day thru food and shakes. So...it looks like I will have to increase my shakes by AT LEAST another 30g.
I'm taking suggestions on different protein drinks since I am only doing one right now. I have a feeling I will be sick of it pretty soon. I used to be able to drink the Isopure cookies and cream, but tried a few weeks ago and gagged . Also, how am I going to keep within a reasonable calorie limit with adding in 1-2 more protein drinks a day? Right now, I feel like I am constantly eating, drinking and taking vitamins as it is.
I'm a little frustrated right now because I have just started the losing trend again and am afraid this will start putting the lbs back. On the positive side, maybe if I cut out some food and replace with protein drinks the lbs will start to fall off quicker.
Sorry, I had to vent.

Nothing wrong with venting! I just had labs done, and I am waiting for the results myself, and suspect that I, too, will have to make some changes. I am willing to bet that my iron is down (tired a lot) and I know my protein should be higher on a regular basis, so I am with ya!
Here are a couple of suggestions for protein: I really like Unjury protein...very flavorful, good texture and easy to get through their site: www.unjury.com. I also like the Muscle Milk Light RTD, chocolate flavor. Costco actually sells it by the case, at a great price. I keep them cold in the refrigerator so I can just grab one and go. I have also discovered Nectar protein drinks (mix) -- not my favorite, but easy to take, different flavors and good amount of protein. I get it from www.netrition.com.
I hope this is of some help! :)

I don't know if I have had my "protein" check but was low iron and Dr. put me on a prescription 7 days a week. Then it got too high so I am taking it 3 times a week. Haven't had blood work since. I like Matrix chocolate protein and am trying some new flavors like Unjury vanilla, and Lean dessert banana nut. Will let you know if I like them. Also use adkins at Walmart . Can get for about 5 bucks a fourpack. I buy the other proteins at Bariatriceating.com.
Sorry to here about your protein and iron (I despise that little iron pill -makes me sick) For protein I love Click - its more like a dark mocha ice coffee than a protein drink - it doesn't have the normal thick consistancy. I've tried the dessert proteins and not been impressed - they kinda all have the same aftertaste - gag (I tried cinnamon roll and chocolate pudding). Good luck - I hope you get your levels up where they need to be!
