I am hoping that I gain some motivation to get back on track. Highest weight in 2004 was 364 had lost from 396.  Got down to 199 by 2006. I am know at 250. I am so disappointed with myself. Trying to figure out how to get back on track. Never really learned how to eat to continue the weight loss. My doctor stopped dealing with gastric bypass patients after my surgery and I was left to fend for myself.  Should I try to unjury drinks?

Unjury is a great protein drink, in my opinion, and is made with the type of protein that works best for us.

You may also think about getting back to basics:  High protein, low carbs, monitor your caloric intake, exercise, fluids AND supplements.  The combination of all of this seems to be what works well not only during the honeymoon phase of weightloss, but in maintenance.

Hope this helps...welcome to the Board!  :)

You are not alone. Similar story as many people. I have gained about 20 pounds and never quite reached goal. Food is still my drug of choice but I know that if I would focus on protein, exercise, and stop emotional eating I would succeed. I also think many of us had the surgery, went for our year check-ups and Dr's were done with us. We do have a support group in town which I need to make an effort to attend. This board is also helpful and motivational. Do you have a local support group or know anyone else that has had the surgery. I have about four people in my circle of friends that also had the surgery. Ranging from 8 years to 3 years out. There definitely is a "honeymoon phase" I miss it so much!! I wish that I had been more "committed" rather than desperate when I decided to have the surgery. I think that is part of the reason it's been a struggle. I was looking for an easy way out of my misery and it did work. But I did not change my thinking about food. I still want to see what I can get by with and still lose weight. At least that is where I am at right now. As they say, awareness is the first step. My I am rambling! but maybe the light bulb is going on for me. I hope that you stay awhile, post and let us get to know you.

Queenie, welcome to the group.

You'll find that the people here are supportive and caring. All of us have been where you are at one point or another so we completely understand what you are going thru. Some of us have never reached goal and started gaining (i.e. myself), reached goal then started gaining a couple years out while others are REALLY close to their goal weight/made it and want to stay on track.

Don't beat yourself up . It will only make it harder to get back on track. Read the guidelines for the group that Cathy has on the main discussion board (3rd option). It will give you a pretty good idea of what you can do to get back on track.

Since your surgeon no longer deals with bariatric patients, you might want to hop over to your state's board and see if you can't get some recommendations for another surgeon in your area. Also, I think there is a doctor search option on the main page for OH.

Please join us in the Cafe and Cardio that is posted everyday. You can get some pretty good ideas on how to get back on track. Again, welcome to the group. Together we can do this. It may not be easy, but the best things normally aren't.
