Lost exercise motivation

How do I get it back. While I was on vac. I didn't do anything except take one morning walk. My first day back I went to the gym and did an hour some weights and elliptical. Now it's been three days and I don't pull myself out of bed in the morning. Planning on tonight but I am sitting here thinking there is so much I would rather do around the house. Thinking about an hour at the gym just makes me cringe. And yet , I know I would feel good mentally about doing it. I am sure I will do it but I sure don't want to. "Suit up and show up" I guess is a good motto. I can remember hearing something about a guy that would get up early and take a run. He never wanted too but part way through his mind would catch up with his body and he would be happy about doing it. I know its good for me and I need to make it a habit like brushing my teeth but gosh darn it I don't want to!!! Ok, here is what I am telling myself. I will pack a change of clothes in a bag, my mp3 player, water and something to read. And I will go zone out, work my body and then reward myself with a shower. If I don't get housework done that's ok. Maybe I will be so energized I will get up early tomm. Although it is my day off...... and I may not want to. Whatever! the housework will still be there and my body needs a workout. Anybody have any inspiration?

are you bored with your workout routine? Thats one of my biggest downfalls with exercise motivation. Maybe try a cardio dvd... or just put on some techno and change your existing routine. i hope alot of people can post about this cus im interested as well.

Good Luck!

Well I went for half an hour on the elliptical but quit because my legs got weak and shakey. Ate a yogurt with nuts and flax meal before I left so don't know if it was a low blood sugar or what. So I am not energized just very sleepy now. Oh well, I did something and will be better tomm. It may be that I am bored with my routine. I need to start attending some classes at my gym and visit with other folks instead of just putting on my head phones.

Isnt it funny how even a few days away from a routine can affect your body.  I am assuming your vitamins are good. Maybe you just need a day or so. Its hard for me to get moving alot. Just feel blah sometimes...but we all know...gotta move to lose right. I just bought a really fun cardio dvd from biglots for 2.00... really works your abs and you never do a sit up or crunch.. so thats my current interest.

Keep at it - I am the biggest anti-exercise person around - exercise has always been something that I have to force myself to do (and I mentioned before I have no will power so I don't force myself very well). The oddest thing is happening though - the more I go - the more I want to go. Its crazy, I have never wanted to go to the gym. Now I get home from work, change into my stuff and grab the hubby and sometimes my 17 yo daughter and off to the gym we go - I am craving my elliptical and I get disappointed if there aren't any open when I get there.

I also found that working out first thing in the morning can be helpful (I would sleep in my gear- LOL) and having a workout buddy who is waiting there for you is a big motivator - if you go in the am its over and done with and you don't have to think about it for the rest of the day.

I am convinced though that once you get into the habit you'll want to do it and will feel "different" when you haven't gotten enough activity in.

Good luck!!
