I have found the daily plate overstates the carbs I need. It is not bariatric-specific. For my body, and all bodies are different, I find I need way more protein and a lot fewer carbs. For 1200 calories, I am for around 100 carbs. But that's my body, yours may be very different. Your body will tell you what you need. We just aren't used to listening to our body - at least that's something I'm still learning to do.
My nutritionist and surgeon told me that in order to be losing that my carbs should be a 2 to 1 ratio. So... if I eat 80 grams of protein a day, I should have no more than 40 grams of carbs. They also told me that a carb is a carb is a carb. Which is, that there are no such thing as "net" carbs. Just their recommendations.
