Good morning -

Tomorrow morning I will be embarking on the 5 day pouch test for the first time. I wondered if anyone had any tips on helping with hunger, or anything that you discovered while doing it at all. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Good morning! I am also starting the 5 day test tomorrow! Maybe we can be of some support to each other, I am praying my pouch is not ruined, I have put back 100 pounds of the 400 I lost, I did have 2 babies in the mean time (:  But I am so afraid! I thin k water will be our best friend! I also love the diet tea's , and flavored water.  I keep telling my self, I did a week of fasting before surgery, and God knows how long I was on liquids after, so I should be able to do this. I have just picked up some awful eating habbits these past 2 years, so I know it will be tough.

xoxoxoxoxoxo best of luck to you! We can do this!!! Gloria

Ladies,
I'm rolling it around in my brain to try it again. Not sure if I can commit or not. Will let you know in the moring. Firefly is insipiring me but don't know if I could just do 3 shakes a day. I did lose 6 pounds in 3 days when I tried a couple months ago. Hmmmmm I will keep thinking this afternoon.

Good for you!  You CAN do it.  It's not easy, but you'll get through it.  I am on day 12 of (mostly) liquids.  I wasn't doing the 5 day test, but something a little more long term that my surgeon suggests.  Either way though, it does shrink your pouch and reset your habits.  I have been drinking mostly protein shakes, but having a cup of cottage cheese each day as well.  And of course sugar free drinks and popsicles.  One day I "cheated" and had a half cup of tuna instead of the cottage cheese.  Tonight I had a few cubes of watermelon that I let melt on my tongue.  It's funny because my goal is to do mostly liquids so when I "cheat" I feel really guilty.  However, I am cheating on things that are actually perfectly allowable in a post op diet.  Before I started this Back on Track plan I would have cheated by eating chips and drinking regular soda.  Or eating something sugary like a cupcake.  I had no dumping effects, but now that I am resetting things I am going to avoid sugar.  I'll have the natural sugar in fruits, but I plan to avoid breads, crackers, chips, and sugary treats.

Just hold strong and you'll get through the week and be on your way to your slim self again!  As far as tips, stay hydrated!  Broths, sugar free popsicles, Crystal Lite, etc go a long way to keep you feeling like you're not being deprived.  Oh, and sugar free gum is a life saver when I'm around friends at work who will inevitably snack!  It's easy to turn down a snack when you have gum in your mouth.  Best of luck and keep us all posted on how you're doing and how you're feeling!  We are all here to support each other!

Thanks, I can't wait! Today is the day, I feel there is hope! I am heart broken over this weight gain, I pray I can feel better!

Do you notice your pouch is smaller? Are you full from a shake? I am so afraid that I really stretched this out. I had 2 babies in 2 years and ate a lot!!! I also plan on just keeping the breads exc away, as they are my weakness!!

You are doing great, keep up the good work!
