Need a Laugh, He Made Me Sick.....
BOTT, I just have to share this with you. I am sitting here at my desk and I started laughing to myself and I'm laughing so hard, now I'm crying..none the less my co-workers think I have flipped.
I don't have to tell you that I have been in a funky mood for the pass few days. Yesterday, a friend of mine who wants to be a regular in my life comes here to my job to take me to dinner. I really didn't want to go but I thought since he drove all this way I would go. So I take some extra time and we go to the Outback Steakhouse.
I remember how I've been feeling because of my weight gain so I knew I wasn't going to eat anything that I'd be sorry for later. My friend does not know I had surgery and we haven't seen each other in over a year. It was a WOW moment for him and a wake up for me.
I ordered the Grilled Chicken on the Barbie w/ House Salad. (always carry my own dressing) He proceeded to order an 8oz steak w/ ribs and a side order of wings, a loaded baked potato and a house salad. Not only did he order it HE ATE IT ALL! Talking about grossing me out...I couldn't eat my food for watching him! I was literally SICK! He kept asking me what's wrong aren't you hungry? Nah, I think I'll just take mind back to the office.
When he called me today... I didn't answer his call. When I think back before surgery I use to be able to eat and to hang with the best of them; could eat almost as much as he did. WOW, that is GROSS!!!

P.S. Don't call me ...I'll call you.

It's amazing when we compare what we used to be able to eat with what we can eat now. I always tell people that the only thing I don't like about the surgery is I can't eat all that I want to. Sounds strange but it's true. Good luck with the friend.

Hi Wayne, it's good to see you. I'm glad I had the surgery, and I don't miss food per say. My only sorrow is I can't eat things that I like because they still don't agree with me. Like I was telling Happylapbander about shell fish. I love shellfish, but my Pooh Pouch does not. I am still having a hard time with any type of milk, and I use to love a good bowl of Rice Krispies, Cherrio's or Shredded Wheat in the morning, but I can eat cottage cheese. So now when I prepare and eat my Oatmeal, Wheatena, or Cream of Wheat its without any form of milk. Meats like steak, pork and turkey are out, nothing but fresh fish and chicken, but I can eat turkey bacon...not even beef or pork bacon so you tell me am I weird or what.
As for my friend, I burned his number!!

Now see, Genie (and the REAL GENIE really is back! ), you may not be exactly where you want to be, but you SURE are where you were!!!!!
When we have something good to compare it to, when we have a little relapse it seems so much worse because the old way is no longer a constant in our life and we compare it to the new way and WHOA there's a contrast. The process of change is we don't go back as often and when we do go back we don't stay as long. I'm so proud of you
Have a fine BOTT day and thanks so much for sharing - made me laugh too!

You guys are so funny!! Genie, I just sat here and laughed. You are so right about all the food we "used" to eat. AND I DO LIKE TO EAT!! I wish I had problems with food like alot of you guys. Nothing seems to bother me which IS BAD!! And I got back in the habit of grazing so now I HAVE TO GET BACK ON TRACK.

Hey Darlene, you know what's crazy....I have a problem with food, but I can eat potato chips, pretzels, just junk foods and some candy with no problem. On the candy note if I eat too much I feel it. I haven't taken insulin since my surgery, but when I eat wrong it lets me know I'm approaching the danger zone.
