Back On Track Together
First day of my "post-op" liquid diet
So I am treating this as if I were post-op from a revision, even though I'm really 7 years post-op from my RNY. It is a revision, it's a revision in my way of thinking and eating. In order to gain control of my food issues I am following a liquid diet of protein shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles, etc. Today was not as tough as I was expecting. Breakfast was easy because I am not a breakfast eater anyway. To have a shake instead of my usual coffee was easy. Work was a little harder because my co-workers made salsa and brought in a cheesecake for my birthday. I taste-tested the salsa so I wouldn't offend anyone, but I just had to stand strong in my decision. They couldn't understand why I wouldn't wait until after my birthday, but there's always an excuse to eat. My birthday, then the 4th of July, then other family member's birthdays, then other holidays. It had to be today. I chose the date as if I had a surgery date. Dinner was a little difficult to sit at the table with my family and sip broth while they had things I like to eat. I am also a night time snacker, so I am saving my last protein shake of the day until just before I go to bed. I have had a few popsicles, but so far I am holding strong. I know the first week will be the hardest. That's why I came here.
Has anyone else been prescribed a liquid diet or something similar by their surgeons? Or have you done the pouch tests and other plans that restrict you to liquids? If so, how did you handle it and what results did you see? Please share your experience with me if you have successfully taken of the regained weight.
Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela,
I decided this morning to do the same thing you are doing now. I was on vacation last week and over did it a little bit and while I didn't really gain anything, I didn't lose as I had hoped I would. I have done the 5DPT and it was easy enough..had a headache on the second day, but all in all it was not bad.
When I prepped for my surgery, my doctor had me on liquids, and I could have one meals a day of grilled chicken and salad. I'm going to see if I can work that now to see what type of results I get.

since my surgery was the lap band - I've followed my surgeons guidelines of two days on each level of refeeding after a fill. It works and it also reminds me that maintenance is forever. When I get off track and am struggling to get back on, I go back to the tried-and-true 2 days - 2 days - 2 days. You came to the right place - we've all been there and done that - way more than once. Coming here with all the support, caring, and acceptance makes getting back on track and staying on track ever so much easier. WE CAN DO (AND ARE DOING)THIS TOGETHER - YES WE CAN!!!
Happy 4th of BOTT July

I just wanted to give you a word of encouragement and tell you what an inspiration you are to me! I am a little over 3 years out and have regained about 40 lbs from my lowest and would like to lose 30. I am trying to get a handle on it now while I can but I think it's a great idea to pick a day and go from there like it's a revision. I like the idea of resetting my pouch so I am thinking I should do the same. You are an inspiration! We can do this! Hang in there & have a great 4th of July! Celebrate your new start with a shake and popsicle! Keep me up to date on how you're doing!

I am right on track with all of you. I had a small lap surgery about three weeks ago where they removed some adhesions. I did liquids for about 4 days and lost 6 lbs over a two-week period. Since I'm four years out, I was surprised to see that much of a drop. I'm going to do mainly liquids for about 5 days with one meal being regular food.
I have faith that with support, we can succeed in getting where we want to be. Have a great 4th everyone and don't let anyone pull you off the wagon.
