Back On Track Together
RNYer introducing myself
I had my RNY in Sept 2007. My highest weight was 290lbs and a year after surgery I was down to 141-144 lbs. A bit too thin for me at 5'9", but I had expected to gain a little as my body readjusted. I had to eat more than I'd wanted just to keep weight on for several months. Then, I got sloppy and lazy.
We moved and I didn't bother joining a gym. I starting eating like someone who'd never been obese and never has WLS. I have only dumped 2X and can eat ANYTHING. Sugar, fat, carbs, veggies, etc. That's not been a good thing for me. I'm a sweets person. Ice cream and candy have always been my trigger foods and I had hoped dumping would curb that urge. No such luck.
I also stopped weighing myself 6 months ago. My clothes kept getting tighter and tighter until I forced my self on the scale this week. I had gained 20lbs in 6 months. YIKES! That was a wake-up call and I cleaned out the pantry and started eating and moving like a newbie again. Good news is that I'm already down 5 lbs. I'm doing the 5 day pouch test beginning today.
Sorry this is so long. I just have to remind myself that I spend years of my life morbidly obese, that I was so desperate and worried for my health that I risked my life for a solution. That I endured surgery and recovery (and put my family through so much) to get healthy. I owe it to everyone to get on track!
My name is Angela and I'm really happy to meet you all.

36 lbs from goal!
Welcome.. sounds like you are doing great! I went for a few years where I could eat anything and not dump and now have trouble with carbs and sugars sending me into low bloods sugars. Don't know if this happens later with some people or not at all. But sounds like you are getting a handle on yourself anyway. Nice to have ya "aboard". Lucyh
Thanks for making me feel so welcome. Today was Day 1 of the pouch test. It was brutal! I have to admit, I had 1 oz of almonds in addition to my protein shakes. I'm not hungry, just out of sorts. I'd gotten so used to snacking at work, that I needed something to keep my hands and mouth busy. So, I drank 80oz of water through the course of the day. That kept me out of trouble.
Wish me luck on Day #2.
