Back On Track Together
The gras was greener on the other side...
Ive had my RNY 12/2005, within 18 months I was at goal, had my plastics done, was down to 170 pounds from 334 pounds.
I followed the rules - my rules.
No overeating, protein first, low carb...we all know the rules.
Slowly I got used to the new me, and with the new me, the old habits started to sneak in.
The compliments slowed down, everything just went to normal. A glas of Champagne here, a wine there... its easy to drink half a bottle in good company - half a bottle is 2,5 glasses.
I didnt pay attention to my protein intake anymore, didnt even pay attention to my supplements anymore.
Workout ? I told myself walking the dog was enough.
Its my brothers wedding in 3 weeks, and this is where it hit me - hard.
I bought a dress 1.5 sizes larger than my usual clothes, just incase the heat will make me swell up again (arms and thighs still do that after my plastic surgeries)...and guess what. I look like a sausage trapped in a way too tight spandex dress.
My parents kept telling me: Susie - youve gained alot of weight lately..where did our super-model go ?
I tried to talk myself out of it..swellings, supplements..not so bad, mom. Just normal.
Remember the self-denial most of us were practicing during our heavy times ? Yup...another old habit sneaked in. I did not want to admit that I got off track. I knew it deep inside - but just denied it.
I am back to 205 pounds. It would be easier to give up now and just say: ok I was born to be heavy, nothing I can do about it. BUT NOT THIS TIME!
I did not go through all this pain just to give up again!
Life doesnt get easier, problems dont disappear magically once the weight is gone. I changed but the world did not change.
Yesterday was day 1 of getting back on track.
My calorie intake summed up to 1700.
100 grams of protein, 80 grams of carbs, 4 liters of liquid (mostly unsweetened peppermint tea)
3 cups of coffee
1 piece of min chocolate (shame on me)
Workout through the day: 8 rounds 10-15 mins each on my vibration plate. I feel sore, because I overdid it with the vibro plate - but - I wanted exactly that: feel sore..so that I feel every muscle aching with every step I take - to remind me that I WILL get back on track.
Normally 10 mins on the plate every day equals 30-60 Minutes of regular workout - so you get a picture of how much I pushed my self *laughs*
To sum it down:
Eyes opened, back to OH, joined this group, followed the rules, feel sore - but HAPPY.
We all can do it ! All it takes is a little push... or in my case a little bigger push :)
*hugs*
Thanks for letting me join in

Hi Susan,
We need to eat ....There is no way around it. We need to eat to survive. Alcoholics can stop drinking, druggies can stop doing their drugs....... but we can not stop eating. Obesity is a challenge for life! It is up to us to try to have self control and push the temptations a way. Because no one will do it, except for us. It sounds like you are doing wonderful. I am happy to hear that you are back in control and on track again. I am not familiar with the vibration plate. Although it sounds like it is working for you. And you like working out on it. Whatever workout you like, try to stick to that. It will be easier because you like the kind of workout you do. :-) I know you are ready to rock and roll again, and that is wonderful!!!! However, Take baby steps back into working out again , because if you over do it with working out a lot and you are not use to it.... you will be too sore to work out the next day. Take a break every 3 days or so... to rest your body. The body needs to catch up. We shouldn't let our bodies burn out. So rest!! When we rest, that's when our bodies resets itself and we see results. Also make sure you measure yourself as well. Seeing numbers on the scale is great. However, the true pounds you want to see is in inches melting from your body..... all over your body. So, make sure you measure your waistline, thighs...etc...... if you don't see a weight loss on the scale , remember, to measure. And don't panic if you don't lose for a while..... it will show soon, remember , working out, eating healthier all pays off. IT IS WORTH IT..... YOU are worth IT! You can do this Susan!! Oh don't forget to track what you eat. Here is a great website for you to use. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ Its free! JOIN! :-)
Best wishes to you
Lizzy

This is one of the machines I am talking about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fMa9DP9MU4
And here some research to it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whole_body_vibration
I chose one of them machines because you dont have to move alot, or lift alot of weight - I already had enough weight to lift back then just by standing straight.
Its very easy to your bones, and once you get brave enough to try out new moves you WILL be sweating alot - simply because all your muscles get fired up by the vibration.
Good stuff :)
