Back On Track Together

If you get "Over" hungry, is it harder for you to eat?

This happens to me if I wait too long to eat for some reason.  Last night I had this Market Research thing to try these Hungry Man Sandwiches.  They looked totally barfy in the picture, but hey, it's $50.00.

So I didn't eat and made sure I was hungry because I can't eat solid food if I'm not hungry.  I suppose that's why head hunger leads to melty foods.  Anyway...

I got there and they had overbooked by quite a bit so i was one of the lucky ones that got paid for nothing but driving there.  By the time i got home, I had a headache and was starving.  I'm sure the extreme reactions were due to being BOC all day, but no matter what, if I'm too hungry at anytime, eating makes me sick.

I made some toast on Double Protein Bread with some natural peanut butter.  I needed something fast and filling.  It took me at least 1/2 hour to get it down.  Maybe longer.  It got cold.  I did push through though and finished it.  Normally i would have abandoned it and had something slidey later.

I'm down 6 pounds in 2 days.  I know, I know.  You can't lose too fast and this is jus****er or whatever.  I totally understand that.  It's still exciting and I'm not doing anything drastic to lose it.

Thanks for the support so far.  Hope I'm not posting too much.  I need to do this.  Besides not getting very fat again, I hate the thought that I would have wasted the money.

Of course you're not posting too much - don't even give it a 2nd thought.  We are here for each other.  Sometimes to get support and sometimes to give support and sometimes both.  You're always welcome

Sounds as though right now your body is saying, "Eat soft foods"  Go back to the guidelines your surgeon gave you and see what soft foods he recommends for you.  Remember, you can put anything in the blender and make it whatever consistency you want.

I do best when I plan at least one day ahead.  That way I know I am getting the calories and protein I should.  And I don't have to take time to decide what I'm going to eat.  I've found mydailyplate.com a giant help in doing this.  "Hungry" is just not a reliable thing for us to base our eating on LOL

I'm excited with you about your weight loss!

Please take very very good care of yourself

Good morning,

Theres no such thing as posting too much. I also do the market research thing here. It helps supplement the income.

I have not had the issues that you describe. What happens to me is that if I wait too long the hunger goes away and I can forget to eat all day. The next thing I know is its dinner time and I havent eaten at all.

You might consider keeping a protien bar in your purse for those times when you are away from home and the hunger hits. It will give you a healthy and quick alternative to the slider foods.

Congratulations on the 6 lbs. Keep making healthy choices.

Amy - Just happened to think of a soft food you might like (because I'm having it for my morning snack)  It's Laughing Cow Lite Original Swiss Flavor cheese wedges.  They would be something quick and easy you could grab as you were preparing what you planned for your meal.  Just a thought

Love the Laughing Cow cheese wedges.  I've tried several flavors & like them all.

Always,

Thanks Everyone!  It is a good idea to have soft food handy to help not get over hungry, like low blood sugar, the hunger feeling isn't bad.  That way if I do get too hungry, I can also settle my stomach before I do eat a meal.  Otherwise I do like 2 bites and I can't go on.

The gastric sleeve probably feels a little different as far as hunger, eating etc. then the RYN.

Thanks Much, my next post will be on my view of Head Hunger and some things I have done correctly/made second nature.

The individual 60 calories servings of Jello puddings and PB2 - both regular and chocolate are all soft things I enjoy.  Does your tummy consider cottage cheese a soft food?  I like 2 cups of fat free cottage cheese (I prefer small curd) heated in the microwave with 1 packet of Sweet & Low (or whatever sweetener agrees with your body) with a dash of cinnamon.  Also, put a can of extra long asparagus spears in the blender with 4 teaspoons of coffee creamer and blend to soup.  Just a few "soft food" ideas.
