Out of control eating...

Hi all, I'm new to this board. Just over one year post-op RNY and officially over the honeymoon stage unfotunately! While I've lost 140 pounds in one year, the scale hasn't moved in a month. I've been eating horribly the last couple of months - I do get in my protein and vitamins but I have to admit that I have been eating some things I would not have dared even trying the first six months, like m&m's, ice cream, doritos....all the junk that got me to 337 in the first place. I just feel like I'm failing myself and the surgery. I want desperately to get back on track and I hope I can find the guidance and support here to lose the last 45 pounds to hit goal!

I know that I have to get back to basics, but it's actually been really difficult for me to stop eating the wrong foods, particularly the carby stuff. Hopefully with the support on this board I can get on track and stay there.

Stephanie,
I feel your pain.  I am 19 months post op and have begun eating all the wrong stuff.  It seems so hard to stop once you get started.  I tend to find myself "grazing" throughout the day.  I have tried to drink water or chew SF gum but it is just so hard not to grab something quick.  Although I don't do the m&ms and ice cream, I do eat doritos, bread with lots of honey butter, and peanut butter.  OMG do I eat the peanut butter.  I found this board and hope for the same; to get the support and direction of how to get back on track as I still need to lose @ 20 pounds to reach my goal.  Best of luck to you and your venture.

Hi, Stephanie~~

Welcome!  If you've been reading this board, you know you'll find nothing but support, suggestions, & encouragement.   We're all struggling to a certain degree here--either never did get to goal & still want to, got to goal but re-gained (I'm in that group), or are sorta maintaining but struggling hard w/ some initial "creeping up" of lbs.

I have stopped re-gaining but am not re-losing!  This is totally my own fault; I know exactly what I'm doing/not doing wrong.   But I keep reading this board for inspiration, motivation, ideas . . . and I'm not giving up on myself.  I'm still thrilled w/ how much I've kept off, but I'm very disappointed in myself for what I've re-gained.

Glad to have you here, and I hope you find the success to get you to your goal!

Always,
Jo

Hi, Stephanie:

Welcome to the Board and congratulations on making the decision to get back on the right track.

I have found myself struggling with the carbs too....while I don't eat the "bad carbs," I do find myself eating more carbs than I should to get in the "crunchiness" that I seem to miss.  It has been really tough to get away from ... but I am trying, and I guess that is a start!  :)

Hang in there, and know that we are all here to support you!  You can do it!  :)

Thank you all for the encouragement! I know that with the support on OH I can get back on track and stay there. I am going to Italy for a few days and will be ****trying**** to watch the carbs and obviously eating very small portions. Once I get back I am going to hit it hard because I REALLY want to lose those last 40 pounds and get to goal. Thanks again, look forward to getting to know you all better!
