Back On Track Together
Hello All -- New Member
Hello, Everyone!
I am coming up on 20 months post op (wow, where does the time go?) -- had a lap RNY in September 2007. To date, I have lost 161 lbs -- exceeded my surgeon's goal, but struggling to get to my personal goal - those darned last 10 lbs.
Over the last few months I have found myself drifting away from all of the good habits I had developed since the surgery -- and craving those darned carbs. Ugh.
Today I started back on track with a good workout this morning that incorporated aerobics with strength training, pushing my protein again and cutting waaayyy back on carb intake. I was excited to find this group ... the timing couldn't have been better.
I am looking forward to learning from everyone and hope I can make some valuable contributions to the group as well!

Welcome Cindy... You're looking fantastic!!! I'm also 5'9 and love seeing someone that is smaller than me... often wondering... how many more pounds need to come off to get down to the next smaller size here too. Looking forward to hearing more that you have to share. Let's strangle the carb monster together :-).

Oooo more "Cindy"s!
Having just joined this week, i can now say welcome to you! The people here are so warm and welcoming, and have a great attitude!
I know what you mean about those "last 10 lbs." and your personal goal. Not sure I'll make that goal - my body doesn't seem to "cooperate", but going to my NUT and seeing that I continue to lose body fat even while maintaining my weight has been positive reinforcement. Sometimes I think finding different measures of success helps....
I always felt doing something proactive is always the best course, so welcome!

Great name, Cyndi! :)
Like you, I think doing something proactive is important...it was the not doing it that ended me up where I was pre-op. I have told myself that as long as I am in there fighting, I will be ahead of the game!
It is encouraging to know that in spite of the scale, reduction in body fat is going on. I know I see constant changes -- as though things are shifting -- maybe some of those changes are a change in body fat. I'd love to get those last pounds off, but if it doesn't happen, that is okay, too....I am very happy where I am and my body will be my guide. I just need to make sure I keep up with doing the right things to avoid gaining (aside from the normal bumps up and down a couple of pounds) -- hence the need to cut way down on the carbs, regardless of how "good" my choices have been.
I look forward to getting to know you and everyone here better!
