Hello everyone.  Lots of questions such as pre-op preps-what do they consist of for gastric bypass.  Post-op, how long before one can drive or travel?  What have you found best to deal with the loose skin?  I am so excited to get this surgery done to better my health and help me get around and feel so much better-yeah!!!  Sorry the questions are all over the place!  Kathy

Hi,

Hopefully, your surgeon will have all the pre and postop guidelines for you.  Each one is a little different.  Also, some insurance companies want documentation of successful weight loss.  Silly, I know.

As for driving, it depends on what procedure you have and if it's an open or laproscopic procedure.

Loose skin, save your pennies.  Sometimes, insurance will cover extreme cases but it is hard to get them to do that.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Welcome!     So glad you've chosen to join us.   I think you'll find this an amazing group of people just as I have.  They are so caring, accepting, helpful folks I've ever found.

Again, welcome to our BOTT family

Not having the $$$$ right now for plastic surgery, I've learned to live with my loose skin (lost 100 + pounds)  Decided it was a no-brainer - I'd much rather have empty skin and be at goal weight than to have full skin and weigh 100 pounds more.

Have a fine day

Thanks for all your responses.  I can tell how close everyone has become and helpful everyone is.  I will observe until after the surgery, so I will keep within the guidelines of Back on Track Together pertaining to post-op help and support.  Thanks again, Kathy
