5daypouchtest... to be or not be? What is you vote??
I am on my third day today and i feel i am starving in the desert.. ok it's not that bad, but it sucks.
Only started it to get back on track . After going bonkers the last few months and gaining back ten of my "i thought gone pounds"
I want to get to my goal and am working hard to grab on to the basics here.. needing some encouragment maybe.
Here is what i know and am acting on.
protein, water, limited to no slider foods,vitamins, veggies,no sugars,berries... and the exercise. right? anything else i am missin? any advice from anyone is appreciated.
And anything workable with ,me, a non structured person would be great also. kristin
I gave never tried it. So I can't vote. When you think about it, however, five days out of a lifetime isn' t that much if you find out the results you want or even don't want. It isn't long.
Why we gain. So many things can cause that and I don't have all the answers. I have learned to accept where I am. I don't own a scale. It's just a tool of depression for me. I do measure my status through my clothes. If I feel I want to be lighter, I use the tool and lose it. I see it in my clothes. If I am satisfied with where I am, I don't let it be an issue. It is alot less stress on me than the numbers on a scale. I know many folks are like.. ummmm... chained to their scales and I haven't met very many folks happy about it. Yet, we shine the chain, make sure there are no weak points (figuratively, of course). I know I'm not helping any, but maybe through me sharing, you can at least have another person's perspective.
I'm now more of an advocate of settling your hunter in 2-3 hour intervals with heavy protein first. I spent 2 weeks on nothing but heavy protein and learned alot. It might not be the right thing for everyone but it taught me a few things that I still carry along. I was NEVER hungry, for one. It filled me quickly, I kept it under 1000 calories a day, and I felt good. Satisfied.
I'm pretty non-structured too. But I journal my food dailly at least. I kept one of those rotisorie chickens handy in the fridge all the time. Seemed to work for me at least.
Welcome to the board, best of luck!... as for the 5DPT, only you know if its right for you. I think its something of a post-op fad diet myself.

36 lbs from goal!
I too struggle the first two days, but it got better as the test progressed. By the end of the test, my meals were satisfying and I'd lost 6 pounds. I'm about six weeks out and have lost a total of 11 pounds which is 10 more pounds than I lost the previous six months before the test.

I started the 5DPT today...this is my second go around of doing the test, mainly to rid myself of the "carb monster." The first time I did the test I prepared myself by fixing the recipes (Ham & Split Pea Soup) described and offered on the website, and while it was different and I had a couple of moments of hunger I was able to work through it. I thought about preparing myself for the WLS and how I had to do nothing but liquids for one week and then on the second week I was allowed grilled chicken and a small salad once a day. When I put myself in that mindset I feel like I can do anything because its important to me. Getting my pouch back to were it use to be or to give myself the full feeling is worth it and it reminds me of where I want to be in my weight loss journey.
I did purchase the "The 5DPT Owner's Manual" which gives a little more insight into the diet as well as more of a variety of easy to prepare recipes. Visit the website and asks questions someone there will be more than willing to help you or offer solutions to your hunger.
