Back On Track Together
I wanted to introduce myself......
My three (3) yr annivesary is May 1, and I have done well. I started @ 390 and bottomed out at 211 in about 11 months, I think (memory does not always work well).
I slowly settled out at 220-225. I now weigh 231 and would like to get back to basics. I have realized that I was introducing unnecessary carbs. I am not much on veggies, so I have to resort to either meats, breads or fruits.
To make a long story short, I have found that the Atkins Advantage protein drinks, for me, are a good substitute for lunch and dinner. I have had 3-4 scrambled eggs (only) for breakfast the last couple of days. I had two apples yesterday as well. I am getting at least 64 oz of water in as well.
Please remind me. Is 60 grams of Protein sufficient? That is what I am trying to get in. My surgeon retired (he is no use to me now) and I currently am not participating in any support groups. I do not get to walk much because of schedule. I know that is hard to believe, but I work 60 hrs a week and get home for one day on the weekends to see my family.

Welcome and glad to have you aboard. I think you will enjoy this group. They are very encouraging and motivating.
As for your protein question, 60 grams should be a minimum. My doctor has me at 90 grams minimum but I have a lot of weight still to loose. I find that if I get more protein I eat less carbs. I've even learned to enjoy a daily protein shake.
Good luck and keep posting.

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your loss!
Your diet needs depend on a few things, your age, weight, goal weight, how long till you want to reach that goal, your type of lifestyle and exercize regimine. Alot of variables!! Also, it depends alot on the type of surgery you had.
The best advice and most helpful thing I've done for myself is journaling my food intake at www.myfitnesspal.com. This website allows you to calculate in all of those variables I stated above, and tells you what your daily intake for calories, fat, carbs, etc... should be to meet your goals. Now of course it can't take account for the fact that you've had WLS, but common sense from your training pre and post-op should help you figure in that piece. (Min water intake, min protein should be 65 g, avoid refined carbs...etc)... ITs been a great way for me to both keep track and be accountable.
Let us know how you do.

Welcome to BOTT. This is a wonderful group with very special members. I hope that it gives you the support and information that you need. It sure has for me.
60 grams would be the minimum. I suspect this is too low for your weight but I'd encourage you to talk to your primary care doctor or nutritionist. How do you feel? If you're tired or low on energy, I'd increase your protein for sure. I would think that you should get a minimum of 75 grams of protein or more. That's just my opinion.
Very nice to meet you!!
