Has anyone read this? I think I'm going to Barnes and Noble tonight to buy myself a copy. Is it worth while?

Hi Jo,
Thanks for letting us know you like it so far.
Would you mind to give us a little book report (not like the kind from school but sharing your thoughts) on it? I would love to hear what you think.
Thanks, Cathy

It's definitely not a "diet book," of which I have about 80!! It more addresses the psychological issues, not food issues, which is certainly my problem. It walks you through the dysfunctional thinking that plagues all of us and gives specific, practical, different ways to think when finding ourselves in bad situations--which might be from stress, boredom, habit, or whatever.
It has sections on getting back on track, facing unplanned eating scenarios, dealing w/ disappointment & unfairness, sabotaging issues, all-or-nothing thinking--these are just a few things in the book. I'm only about 1/3 into it. It's NOT a quick-fix book; I can tell that the "therapy" & strategies take lots of practice! But it is a very thought-provoking book if you really read it purposefully. It's certainly not all "revolutionary" but does really zero in on our thinking & emotions & old, habitual behavior.
It does have brief "homework" sections (the book is designed to be read & done step-by-step over a 6 wk. period). Of course (because far be it from me to do things "right"!), I'm not doing it that way, but I HAVE done some of the short writing exercises. Some of them I think are a little hokey, but I'm trying to at least do some.

Do I have it - yes.....have I read it.....no.
I purchased it because we're going on vacation in about a month. I'm going to read it while we're away. I have heard such great things about the book. The author comes from more of an emotional eating perspective which I completely agree with.
Let me know what you think. I'm perused it and I'm excited to get into it.
Thanks, Cathy

I am in the middle of it also. What I like about it is that it confronts all the emotions that are bottled up that seems to get in the way of my success. It gives you homework to work on and makes you think about what your actually feeling that makes you want to cheat. I always do so well and then something happens that I just fall apart and gain about 20lbs. Its a good read. I am reading it along with Clean Eating. This is the diet I am using. It tells you to pick a diet while you doing his program. If you are an emotional eater then this book is right for you.
Got my copy of it 4 weeks ago. Yes...I made all of the Advantage Response Cards and took notes. I actually copied my Reasons for Changes onto my PDA. It's always with me and I've noticed that if I get a few quiet minutes at work...I find myself reading through this. It's very helpful.
I feel that a lot of the info in the book is really common sense....BUT...I love the approach...yea the "assignments" were kind of a drag BUT...I really did learn from them. I have started going through the book again...this time with highlighter in hand. I have a feeling that I'll be referring back/reading the Beck Diet Solution many many many more tmes over the years.
Ordered it on Amazon.com;received it 3 days after ordering. Cost me $16 whi*****luded S/H.
