Wow, so an all protein diet certainly doesn't always agree with the system. I could use some suggestions on low net carb high fiber foods to help er.... solidify things. I know flax seed is practically perfect but have not the first idea how to eat it. Do I just take handfulls of seeds?.... they're pretty small, like sesame seeds. How do I mix that with a heavy protein diet?

We have a marvelous health food store here with a homeopathic nutritionist.  She had me add two tablespoons of flax seed (90 calories) to some food I would be eating anyway (I mixed it with Jello 60 calorie single serving pudding) in an effort to deal with my mega constipation problem.  However, it didn't seem to yield significant results and, as low as I have to keep my calorie count to lose, I stopped using flax seed because I just didn't want to spend 90 calories that way.  Hope this helps.

Have you tried Fiber One Cereal - the twig looking type.

It has 60 cals, 1 fat, 24 carbs, 14 fiber, 0 sugar and 2 protien for 1/2 cup serving.  I have issues because of the iron I take.  I have included 2 1/2 cup servings a day, generally with 6 oz of Kroger Carbmaster yogart, and things have been smooth moving.

Hope it helps

Pam - Thanks for your suggestion.    Did you know there is an iron tablet you can take that does not contribute to constipation?  They are called Ferro Sequels

Unfortunately, those nice gentle remedies just don't help at all.  It's been a problem all of my life so I've just learned to live with it and do what I can.

Have a fun day

I get them at the pharmacy in the grocery where I get any prescriptions filled I might need.  They are not a prescription item, but they seem to keep them behind the counter.

Saddly there's far too many carbs in the cereal for my current diet stint. I'm trying to keep it under 10 carbs a day if I can manage. When I am in maintenance, that'll definately be on the list. But right now I'm trying for less than 10 carbs.

Wow,

What do you eat on a daily basis to keep it under that?

Ok, I just reviewed your posts.  Lots of protien.  I think I would get bored.  I need a variety.

Hope it works well for you.

Pam - protein can come in lots of forms.  Watch that slippery slope of eating when bored - we've all been there and done that (part of the reason we're bariatric patients LOL)  Eat to live and play to keep from being bored is a good recipe for healthy living for us.
