Looking Back and Knowing Success
I remember early after my gastric bypass I was amazed at the success I had right off the bat. I was quite active in my May 2005 board and we use to post our Ah Ha moments all the time.
So as I laid in the bathtub I recalled one of my biggest....
the day my hips didn't hit the side of the tub!
I think it is so good to look back at how far we have come...sometimes (for me all the time) we are too hard on ourselves.
Please post some of your early Ah Ha moments.....

My real first Ah Ha moment was when i noticed that a I could wrap a normal size towel around my body and tuck the ends inside...
before that I used the over-sized towels... and then one day I grabbed one and did not even noticed that it was the regular towel... and it worked.... This was the first day that I started believing that I am getting smaller.

My first Ah Ha moment was when I went to Silver Dollar City (Amusement Park) with my family and spent the whole day walking the park and enjoying the kids and on the way home I was not exhuasted. I actually felt good that I was not holding them back.

Hi Jen,
Great topic!
For me, it was when I didn't have to lie on the bed, huff, puff and blow the house down to zip up my jeans!
Another favorite is when I could finally cross my legs comfortably. I still love to cross my legs to this day. For all those years that I couldn't, it is a reliving of my WOW moment when I could.
Thanks, Cathy

Oohh I have a few that still hit me today. Here's the ahas, and backstories.
Sitting in the chair at the theatre and being able to slip my elbows INSIDE the arms.
My mother and I have season passes to an Off Broadway theatre in downtown that has about 8-10 shows per season. Normally we're elbow-fighting for the arm rest. But the first season after my surgery (about 3-4 months out), I had my hands on my lap, my legs crossed and my elbows inside the armrests!!
Being in a pants size that is single digits.
I don't remember any time before surgery where this was the case. I'm sure at some point it was but... eh. I don't remember. I was always a 12 or bigger since middle school.
Not only being able to cross my legs, but double-crossing the top of my foot again behind my calf. You know, pretzel legs.
Self explanitory, but darned fun to discover!
Looking down and seeing just boobs and toes... no belly.
That was a huge one. You don't think about it when you're big. Your belly is always just there. Then one day... randomly I was looking at my feet, probably after a pedicure, and WHAMMO.... where's my stomach!? That was wonderful.
Not having a hump of fat on the back of my neck (most bigger people are notorious for that!)
I've had THAT since before I can remember, camel hump, fat store... its just a collection of fat on the vertibra in that area, but most big people have it. I always hated it. I would stand sideways in the mirror and try to manipulate my posture to make it dissapear... to no avail. One day, I was looking at myself sideways and it was gone. I was so amazed and excited I called my husband over and showed him. He was very pleased.
No double chins.
Self explanitory too!
My wedding and engagment rings are loose and spin around my fingers like tops.
I almost lost them once!
This one may be TMI or nasty... so read on at your own risk!
Knowing my system processes food in about 10-18 hours. That's quick!
hehe... the TMI part is over, I will not elaborate!
Those are mine, mostly. My mom is about 5 weeks out, so I look forward to seeing her's as she progresses. She's already crossed her legs and is so glad!
