Back On Track Together

5day PT - Day 3

Well  the first two days weren't as hard as I thought they'd be. I made Split Pea Soup, SF protein pudding and lots of SF Jello on Sunday in preparation for the Monday start. Made it easy to stay on track. I did have some trouble getting my water in I think because I was drinking protein drinks but I did get 48 oz in each day along with all the other liquids...

I made the Chicken Feta salad and the Parmesan Tuna patties for today - both tasty recipes that I will keep in my file for future use. So far, so good. It's not 2:00 and I've already gotten in half of my water today. Sticking to the 15 minute rule for meals seems easy for me and paying attention to the liquid intake restrictions is very effective. This one simple rule is something that I've gotten away from but it makes a huge difference. I definitely need to get back to this habit.

Anyway - so far, so good. I have a very positive feeling about the rest of the 5 days as the food for day 4 and 5 is some of my favorite. Paying attention to the rules will be OK for the next couple of days - the challenge is keeping up the pouch rules long term.

Hi Shelbaj:

Sorry, didn't realize you were here too! LOL. So I will post my update too, so far

I started on Monday too.  The liquids were kinda hard for me mentally, I did have a headach for 2 days, mostly in part because I quit drinking my coffee, not a good idea.  I also did not do the protein drinks post op 4 years ago, but I am doing them now.  I am finding that it is taking me a little over an hour to drink them!!! Is this normal or ok?  I am not sure!

So day 1: I had 2 protein drinks, 2 S/F jello &3 S/F puddings and 64 oz of water and a can of cream of Broci. soup.

Day 2:  Same thing

Day 3: (today) I made the Chicken Feta salad

All and all it brings you back to the rules! Watching the clock.  So many times have you just sat down, ate, drank, ate. And never realized that you were drinking when you ate or how long it has been.  So again, I guess it's just paying attention to the rules and just having a little bit of willpower again.

Good Luck!

Carmella,

I've been so busy the last 2 days haven't had a chance to post. Hope you are doing well. I'm on Day 5 now and still going strong.

I do feel re-energized to get back to the way I should be eating. It certainly does involve paying attention - being aware of what we're doing and making conscious choices. The good thing about the 5daypt is that it reminds us to use our tool that can make it so we don't have to use so much willpower not to eat - using the pouch properly I don't find that I have the cravings and don't really get too hungry.

I really enjoyed the Chicken Feta salad - I know I will have that again. I have made new reminders for myself and I know that I have this to come back to if I need to "get my head straight" again.
