Hi. I had RNY back on 8/7/01 and for the past 6.5 years I have maintained my weight. I noticed some weight gain when my Mom got very ill and I had to start taking care of her so that lead me to put myself again on the back burner and I have gained weight. I saw this group and decided to join. I saw on a previous post someone told someone to go to the BOTT and Cafe where and what is that? Also, I notice on some of your BOTT's you all are eating yogurt and cottage cheese....well these are food my body says "NO" to since my surgery. Which is one of the reason I did not do the 5DPT which I want to do but not really sure how I can and what I can subsustite for these things. Any suggestions would surely help. I have started back on my vitamins and will start back on my walking today.
Thanks

Hi Lalaissweet,

Welcome to Back on Track Together (BOTT)! This is a great group with lots of support for you here as you will soon see. You don't have to eat yogurt and cottage cheese and neither of them are on the 5 Day Pouch Test. Cottage cheese was added to day 3 but I think if you cannot tolerate it you don't have to have it. Each day the plan gives you options to choose from. Like the first couple of days are liquids. Here's the link for you to check it out.

Hope this link helps you out some. I had my RNY back in Jan 2003. Well done on maintaining for that long. It's not too late to get back on track. I have a long way to go, but I know I can do it. I've been taking myself to support group meetings and even though they're monthly they really do help me. Before going to them I felt like I was alone. I knew I wasn't but I felt alone because I never knew anyone who had surgery until I went to the support meetings. If you need anything, ask, we're here for you.

Take Care,
Marilyn

Are you completely lactose intolerant? If not, there is always s/f pudding, Fage (greek yogurt made from goat's milk I believe) and FF cream chease? There are alot of soy-based products if you are lactose intolerant. soy milk, soy yogurt, etc...

How great that you maintained for 6 + years.  It's certainly understandable that when you mom got sick you made her your first priority - but remember the better you take care of yourself the more you have to give others - whatever the situation.

The BOTT Cardio and Cafe is a thread Cathy provides daily on the BOTT site where, if we choose, we can check in - report on the day before (both struggles and successes) and commit for the day at hand.  Some post specific menu plans for the day others, like me, simply commit to a 100% BOTT day - which means I will not exceed my calorie limit for the day, I will have my minimum of 60 g protein, 60 oz water, and vitamins and supplements.  We also include our exercise plan.

I'm so glad you have chosen to join us.  Don't be shy  let us know how we can best help you.

I believe you will find the folks here the most caring, supportive and accepting people around.  I know I have.  I had my lap band 3 + years ago and did not do as well as you in maintaining.  Over the past year I had gained some and am happy to say I am within less than 5 pounds of being back to my goal weight.  I could not have done it without the help of BOTTers.
