Back On Track Together
Help!!...and Snacks???
Hi Everyone,
I've been scarce since I joined a few weeks back but want everyone to know that I really "am" getting back on track. :) Life has been pretty hectic lately, however, I'm making it a priority to put myself back at the top of the list.
I need a little help, please. I tend to find myself drifting back into one of my worst pre-op habits...emotional eating. I know that I'm doing this due to several stress factors in my life, however, they're issues that I can't readily resolve and so I'm going to have to redirect myself now before things get too out of hand. One of my worst problems is snacking. I've always been a sugar "addict" and would live on just sugar, if it were possible. Initially, I did really well in excluding sugar from my diet. HUGE MISTAKE...I've re-introduced it into my diet and now find that it's getting "totally" out of hand. I welcome any and all suggestions regarding how to re-direct this situation as well as any suggestions for snacks as that tends to be one of my worst downfalls. I like fruit but would like a suggestion for something else as well.
Thank you!
Donna :)

Hi Donna,
Everything you have described is what I am going through. I can't offer advice but I can offer my support and to let you know that you are not alone. I am currently struggling with snacking and especially sweets. I know I didn't have this surgery for nothing and I need to redirect my energy so I can be a success. Seeking help is the first step and OH is a helpful community; so way to go for asking for help and keep your head up.

Donna, welcome to the BOTT board. I know my big thing was/is chocholate. I have found protein shakes that taste like choc. and this helps me to get the taste but in a healthy way. The brand I use is Optimum Nutrition, you get 74 servings for $40. Try to find healthy alternatives for the tastes you crave. Remember though that even healthy choices need to taken in moderation. I agree with the previous poster in saying you have taken the first step by reaching out. Good luck in your search and come back often.

We've all been there and done that. Set small sugar-abstinence goals - like 5 minutes at a time. We can do almost anything for 5 minutes. Just keep setting 5 minute goals and celebrate at the end of each one. Besides that, when I get off track I find the best thing for me is to go back to basics - to refeed on the 4 levels just as I did after surgery (and after each fill I have) Hope this helps. YOU CAN DO IT - I believe in you, please join me in believing in your self.
