Back On Track Together
Accomplishment? Maybe.
So at lunch today they had baked chicken. Rather than getting a wrap with the chicken inside, I did it outside. Got the baked chicken and a veggie wrap. I immediatly put half aside in tin foil for a possible snack later, ate most of the chicken (prolly 4-6 oz) FIRST. Then started on the wrap.I ate slowly and found myself starting to get that full feeling about 1/2 through it. So really, I only ate a 1/4 of it.
Now on a normal day, I'd wait 10 minutes, have another bite... wait, have another bite... and eventually fini**** Instead, I went strait to myfitnesspal.com and adjusted the intake accordingly and threw it away. I still feel very satisfied, not overfull, and looking at my calories for lunch, I am quite pleased.
So I ultimately only had half of the half of the wrap and most of the chicken. But I did it in a new order. Protein first, then the veggie wrap. I found I got fuller faster than when the chicken was IN the wrap. Does that make sense?.... And I also waterloaded before the meal, so we're hoping that full feeling lasts.
Could I be on to something? I dunno. I just feel I accomplished not finishing the wrap. That's important to me. Because on an average day. I would have.

Why thankee happylapbander! Its just one of many steps to a healthier me, I think. But one I must must MUST implement if I want this to work. I can't just set it aside and eat more later. Those calories add up too.
Hey I have a question... does waterloading work for someone with a lapband? Are there tricks of the trade for lapbanders that don't work for RnY'ers? Curious.

I haven't a clue abou****erloading - didn't even know there was such a thing until a few days ago when I read about it here. I have noticed that it seems like to can drink too much water - sometimes when I drink a lot of water I am hungrier. My challenge is not to drink 1/2 hour before, during, and 1/2 hour after eating. So I guess the bottom line is that probably some days waterloading would and some days it wouldn't. Most likely would depend on what was triggering me to want to eat that day. (Calories can be pesky little demons, can't they? )
The only tricks I know is our ability to alter the size of our openings. I love getting a "fill" But, pretty much, I haven't found that there isn't that much difference. We are all in the same boat for the most part.

Protein first is such a good rule! Last night we had soft tacos. I fixed em up for my family and then took 1/2 a small flour tortilla, tore it up and added the ground beef and cheese and salsa on top. It was really good and so much better than my usual rip and tear and eat of a tortilla. I didn't feel deprived and my family is always happier when I eat the same things as them.

Ohh tacos are the devil! I loooove tacos. Particularly crunchy ones. I'm going to keep giving this protein first policy a shot and see if it helps.
