Friday Reflections! Are you fat in the head?
Hello BOTTs,
It's Friday and I love this thread....its a chance to share some event that took place during the week that had an impact on me and gives us a chance to share and discuss....
I was working out at the gym with my son and we usually write down the amount of weights we work with and the number of sets. He took the paper and decided he was going to write the numbers (strange as his writing sucks)...we worked our routine and I do as he says...I don't whine or question anything. It's the only place he gets to boss me around and he is lovin it
When we were done he said do you realize you just increased your weigh by 40%? I was like what did you say He asked why don't you believe in yourself and do this on your own?
I started to think about his question on the way home. I am almost 5 years out and realize I am still fat in the head. My body may be smaller, but down deep am still fat in the head. Not body imagine fat in the head, but you are a loser, you are a fatty, you don't deserve it, you can't do that, nah, nah, nah in the head.... I don't think we realize it, we don't hear it put into words or thoughts but it's there, and the power it has over us is powerful.
How can it not be? We have lived with this mind set for an entire life time, and only had a few years to believe we really do deserve to be the best we can be. We really can push ourselves and climb mountains
I think we are all here because we still have work to do. So the next time you are in a situation where you are not accomplishing or pushing yourself, ask the question Can I really do this, do I deserve this, am I winner or loser Take the power back, and the answer is ......
YES I CAN, YES I AM, WINNER ALL THE WAY Stand at the mirror in the morning (when no one else is around as they will call the guys in the white coats ) and repeat that several times....
Love you all, thanks for listening....have a great weekend
Take care,
Kathy

Wow - what a fantastic post! It's so true that even after losing my weight (and I still have more to go) I don't even try to do some things. I see think of myself way back at 365 lbs. And it's not even a consious thing! It's going to take some work to think of ourselves as "do-ers" "winners" and "good enough/strong enough" when we have been told, by ourselves and others, that we are not.
Thanks for this insight!
Thanks for this insight!
I think this is true of us all and we need to work on the fat in the head imagine of ourselves...
It goes back to me seeing myself having to hold on to a grocery cart and then having to stop and catch my breath. Living like that for years plays on our minds...and then to think I can run a 5k or swim and or lift weights? NO WAY....well WAY!!!!
Keep looking in the mirror each day and remind your head what your clothing size already knows...YOU CAN DO IT
Take care,
Kathy

The power of our thoughts/self-talk can't even be comprehended - they are enormously powerful - and it is our choice whether we monitor them or not - and whether we allow negatives to rent space in our heads.
Not only do we not have a true picture of our physical body - we struggle (hopefully we struggle - don't just accept Fat in the head) We haven't a clue what amazing people we are. One of my favorite truths that I was told years ago is "You are a unique, unrepeatable, miricle of God" I share this with you for it is absolutely true of each of us.
I invite you not to mess with God's miracle that's you this week end.and I'll commit to being on the alert not to mess with God's miracle that's me either. Jump for Joy Because You're You
And while you're at it - have fun too
