Help! Slipping!

I am 8 days post op from a ERNY.  I feel like I started sliding down a slippery slope today.  Since my stomach was not altered, I don't feel any issue when I eat.  I just try to keep with the post op diet of pureed and soft foods.  Not a problem.  Have kept with the diet and got all my protein in, no prob.  Today, I had an irresistible urge for a cracker and I gave it and ate 2 of them and 2 sugar free chocolate chip cookies from the Girl Scouts.

I told my family that we CANNOT have this stuff in the house until I get past this phase and they are trying but the cookies arrived yesterday (dd is a girl scout) and the crackers were there before I left for surgery.  I threw them out today.

Why do I feel so horrible and ready to give up??

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

Hugs

Ames

Think we've all experienced this.  The important thing is not that we sometimes get off track - the important thing is what we do the next day  Unfortunately we will always want to eat what we wanted to eat before surgery and the same things that triggered to eat before surgery will still be triggers for us.  I handled my social conscience and GS cookies by donating them to Treats for Troops - didn't even have to touch them. YEAH

When will you be eating more solid foods?  Remember, we know a lot about "head hungry" and virtually nothing about "tummy hungry"  (we've worked VERY hard to never never be tummy hungry)  Also, just because we want to eat, we don't have to eat.  It's kind of like being a parent - if our child was doing something dangerous (say like running out into the street to get their ball) we wouldn't ask them if they'd like to stay on the sidewalk, we wouldn't ask them if they were oomfortable staying on the sidewalk and letting the approaching truck run over their ball, we'd demand they stay on the sidewalk (even grab them and hold them to keep them safe).  We'd expect thnem to mind us whether they were "in the notion" or not.  We love them so much, we are willing to risk them not liking us (probably even saying they don't love us)to keep them safe. But somehow we have a big double standard.  We aren't that firm and loving to ourselves.  That's so sad.  Now, please don't think this is just theory - I've been there and done that many many times - that's why I needed bariatrif surgery.  I happened to have the lap band - but this is the same for us whatever procedure we elected to have.  There's no procedure we cannot override and regain all that we lost + more.

WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!!!

Thanks so much!!!!  I was in such a dumpy mood last night.  I got off to a better start today and hopefully when this thing is healed again, I Will try to figure out what full is.  I can't seem to tell right now because of the surgery pain.

Again, THANKS!!!

I find out I do better if I count calories (they still count just like they did before surgery) and plan what I NEED to eat to follow the guidelines - then just do that - that way I know if I'm hungry it's head hungry and I will not perish if I don't eat more than that.  And for sure pain doesn't help!

Have a good day  Hope you get to feeling a whole lot better real soon

I am actually counting everything that goes in my mouth in Fitday and so far I am good on the calories until yesterday.  Yesterday I hit 1000 calories which seemed  high.

I feel better today and hopefully, when I can actually figure out what is hungry as opposed to the surgery pain, I will probably be okay.  I wish I could have veggies like peppers and celery and such because I think I am looking for crunch in my  mouth as opposed to carbs per se.

Thanks so much for all the tips!  They are very much needed!

Good for you - unfortunately "crunch" isn't one of your choices right now, but that day will come.

I'm so glad you're feeling better!
