Back On Track Together
New to group
Another newbie to the group.
I had lap-band surgery in March of 2007 and have lost just about 80 pounds. I’ve been at a plateau for about 4 or 5 months now, losing and gaining the same 5 or so pounds and am very frustrated. I know that part of it stems from bad food choices and lack of consistent exercise and I’m trying hard to get back on track with both (walked 60 minutes on the treadmill this morning!). The other part is that I’ve been having some trouble getting to the right fill level. I do have an appointment next week and hopefully I’ll get a small fill (.25 cc) which will help. That will bring me back to the fill level that seemed to work best for me.
I noticed the information on the 5-day pouch test—is this suitable for lap-band patients, too?
Thanks!

Hi Dianne,
Welcome to our BOTT Group. We have a very special and unique group of members.
It is good that you're getting a new fill and are back on track. With a Bander, knowing the level that works best for you makes a big difference. That is a learning curve so you've reached it. I know even that can be hard to find the level of a fill that you need.
The 5 Day Pouch Test was created by a RNY Post-Op for RNYers. There have been mixed results with it. Some post-ops report that it has worked great for them and others have not found the same results. Before you consider it, make sure to talk with your surgeon or surgeon's office. With the ability to get a fill, I don't think it would be as useful to you. The foods on it are good but as far as following the guidelines, make sure to talk to your surgeon.
Again, welcome and I'm glad you're a BOTT with us.

Welcome to the group. This has been a very positive tool in keeping me focused on my goal. I check the board often through the day especially when I feel like grazing, it helps me refocus on why I'm doing this. See ya around the board!
