Hello all,

I'm so glad you are here.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I had a VBG with a sleeve gastrectomy in April 2004.  I lost 60 lbs in 6 months and then another 20 over the next year.  I've maintained since then until one month of emo eating.  I gained 30 lbs and promptly went on weigh****chers to get a hold of my constant graze.  That worked great until another emotional upheaval in my life (dontcha hate when that happens?).  I gained 40 back in 3 months.

I was seriously thinking my VBG had failed and was going to get the 2nd half of the surgery.. the DS.  I even had a surgical consult.

Then I was reading about "failures" of WLS (not ones with surgical issues).  But how anyone can circumvent a WLS by improper eating.

Your BOTT site has inspired me to use the tool I have and try again!  I am also going to pursue some pro help in the head shrink area.

I have read The BOTT Basics, bought a spanking new food journal, purged the house of food triggers and have walked 1 mile on the treadmill.  I also planned my lunch and supper and snack.

Hugs to all of you,
Ratkitten

Hi Ratkitten,

Welcome to BOTT.  I love it here.  I love the BOTT friends we've become with each other.  I'm constantly motivated and inspired here on our Board.

I think the emotional eating is among the top behaviors that compromise our wls and weight loss success and maintenance.  After years of easily maintaining my weight, I also went through an big emotional difficulty and bam went back to turning to food for comfort and regain some weight.  I lost it but got in return so many lessons that will help me to keep it off.

Congratulations on getting back on track with your surgery.  I also agree that getting some support from a professional is very helpful.  Been there, done that myself too.  I'd do it all over again without hesitation.

I'm glad you're with us.  You're doing great!

Cathy
