Back On Track Together
I came up with an idea that is getting me to exercise more consistently
Hi everyone, it seems like forever since i've posted but maybe it was just last week. : ) Life has been crazy busy/hectic between work/school/homelife. I've been struggling on being consistent with exercise. I've come up with a new plan that seems to be helping me. I have a long list of movies that I'd like to see so I came up this this idea. If I rent a movie the only way I"m allowed to watch it is if I"m walking on the treadmill. Its working so far... My first movie was 'The Secret Lives of Bee's' I started watching it one day and walked for 45 minutes (I even changed elevations and speed during my walk) when I stopped walking I stopped the movie.. Next day (I walked/watched) the remainder of the movie. So I'm getting in my exercise and also getting to view the movies on my list. Its a win/win ...
I'm hoping to incorporate other exercise into this routine, like maybe the balance ball or bosu .
Oh my other idea that I have not implemented yet is to walk the apalachian trail (via my treadmill) I'm trying ot find a map that I can print/use that will show the trail in something I can mark in 1-5 mile increments. I'm going to post it on the wall next to my treadmill and mark my way. It would be such an accomplishment for me to walk the trail. Does anyone want to walk along with me? Maria

I would love to plot the Appalachian Trail through my treadmill/ elyptical time! That sounds like a great plan, also sounds like a new thread where we can keep track of how far down the trail we are =) I love watching movies when I am doing cardio, time flies! And, I am way behind on my movie selection as well =) I will start looking for a good map, if we can't find one online to print out, we might be able to order one from Amazon... Robin

Hi Maria,
I LOVE your idea for watching movies ONLY when you're on your treadmill. I've done the same thing with audiobooks on my iPod and it has worked great. If I'm right in the middle of a good part, the only way I get to hear it is by continuing to walk. The movies are fabulous. I am definitely going to use your idea. Thank you so much for sharing it. I'm excited to use this for myself. I know it'll work!
I'm going to get a couple of movies today! Thanks again.

Oh my gosh Maria, what an absolutely fabulous idea...you know I've been trying to get back into my exercise routine and the CD player or the radio here at work...well, I haven't figured out how to use the damn thing, but this is a GREAT idea. Thanks for sharing. I can take my portable DVD player here at work and use it in the gym downstairs. Keep us informed about the Appalachian Trail, I was working my way up to 3 miles a day so I'm game.
