I have been struggling to get Back on Track for a long time. I would start out good every day and then by the end of the day I felt like once again I failed. I finally decided to go to Weigh****chers. My support group meetings don't seem to pertain to me anymore ( nearly 41/2 years out). With do the Momentum plan  I feel that I am finally Back On Track! I have lost weight and feel so much better about myself. The leader is so supportive of me. I told her that I had WLS and she was fine with it. I had been told that WW really didn't welocome former WLS people. I am so glad that that isn't the case at my meeting!

You should be so proud of taking action and finding something that works for you.  What special plan do they have going on now?  Is it the same?  I know years ago it was always some new way of doing the plan but all in all it came down to the point system and worked well

WE are proud of you and keep us posted ok?

Take care,
Kathy

I, too, have been struggling w/ my attempts to get BOTT for a long time (long before "BOTT" existed!).  Sometimes I've done well for hours, sometimes for days, and sometimes for a little longer, but I haven't made any meaningful progress.

I've joined WW so many times through the years (I'm 59)--the last time maybe a couple yrs. before my wls in '04.  So I'm very familiar with their various plans, the point system, core plan, etc., and have had some good success in the past (never long-lasting though).

Obviously, you don't have to go into huge detail, but could you tell just a little bit about what is different about the Momentum plan?  I can't believe I'm even considering WW again, but I am.

Thanks!

Always,
Jo

I feel that is a combination of the points and the core plans. You count points but try to include filling foods. I still make sure that I get my protien in first. It is working for me. I am losing on the average of 2 pounds per week. If I have  a treat I make sure that it works into my points. I still am not perfect with my eating but I am definately doing better!

I'm happy that you're BOTTing with us and you've found another layer of support in WW.  It is great that you have a leader that is supportive and understanding regarding WLS.  Like you, I've heard that many WW leaders are not as accepting of WLS members in their meetings.

Please let us know how it goes for you.  Between BOTTing with us 24/7 and WW, it sounds as though you've found a great way that works for you.

Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on the loss!  This is great news as I have been tossing the idea around for sometime now but have heard they WW didn't 'welcome' WLS people into their group...  I was thinking of not even telling them, but I do not like to mislead people... I will be looking for a group near my new home or office....

Thanks and again, congrats!

I did not know wether to bring it u*****t. At the get together for new members there was someone else there that I knew and she had also had WLS. We both told the leader and she welcomed both of us. She was upfront in the fact that she doesn't know all of our needs and said she would help us in any way that she could. She suggested for us to do the program in a way that would fit our needs and that she would give us all of the encouragement possible. She is great!

I joined WW in January and have lost almost 10 pounds.  It's slower than I'd hoped but I've been using ALL my points!  haha I've never done it before so it's enough of a "game" right now to keep me motivated.  I don't know that I could have done it pre-surgery because I would have been more hungry.  I'm over 5 years out from surgery, have had a baby, and gained some weight and bad habits.  I'm really hopeful WW will get me back to my low and even to goal!

I haven't told anyone but it just hasn't come up.  My friend that I joined with knows but no one else.

Good luck to all of us!!!

I too have joined WW.  I had planned to when I got down to my last 25-30 pounds.  I have heard so much how only 20 percent of WLS patients reach their goal and I am determined to be in that 20%.  I have not told anyone at WW that I have had WLS.  As far as they are concerned when I joined I had 25-30 pounds to lose and I will reach my goal and become a Lifetime Member and continue to go so I have someone to  be accountable to.  Having WLS before I joined doesn't have anything to do with them.....what if I had done Adkins and lost 50 pounds then joined WW, that would be no difference.  I'm there for the same reason everyone else it there, to lose weight, reach my goal and enjoy the support that peple that have a weight problem share.  Most of us still have some of the same issues that caused us to be overweight and WW meetings help us recognize those reason and work on them.  We have all said it and heard it.....WLS is not a magic bullet, it is a tool and we have to work with it, for it to work for us.

Plus, I do enjoy getting all the applause and praise when I do well and all the little celebrations you get along the way.  We all love recognition.  It is nice!!

WW is good for me but I also enjoy coming to OH because I do need to be in contact with people that have WLS and some of the unique things we experience.

Have a Great Day!

Susan

I totally understand what you are saying about not telling them. I really had no intentions on telling the leader. The other lady that was joining that opened up about her WLS also knew that I had WLS. She pretty much let the leader know that she wasn't the only one sitting there in her shoes. I don't at all regret letting her know and she is keeping it confidential. I hope you get to your goal &  I hope we both are able to become lifetime members!
