Back On Track Together
End of the one year stall!
This weight loss surgery is an amazing thing. I lost 75 pounds in my first six months and then nothing for a year -- well, I'd lose a pound here, gain two there, etc., etc. Since the beginning of the year, however, I've begun to lose again at a rate of 1 to 1.5 pounds a week and am now down a total of 85 pounds. I had someone tell me the other day that I look too thin!! LOL - I still have about 30 pounds to go, so that's not the case, but for those of you who have hit an awful snag, all I can say is hang in there. You'll get there eventually.

I ended up having two spinal surgeries in the space of four days back in November. I could barely move, as the main object was a three-level lumbar fusion. I gained some weight in the hospital, mostly from all the fluids, but was really afraid I'd gain weight when I got home, being so sedentary and all I really wanted to eat was saltines! I finally forced myself to start walking -- I still use a cane, and I'm slower than I used to be, but I'm getting better. Just one day out of the blue I got that old restriction feeling back in my pouch. Then I realized that carbs were making me dump again, and I just couldn't fit that much in. I'm thinking that perhaps my body needed all this time to catch up from the initial weight loss. I'm doing my best with my vitamins (last blood work was good) and trying to eat well - halibut is in the oven right now - and I seem be be doing well. I think I'm gonna make it!!
Good to hear from you as well. You'll get that weight off as the warmer weather comes. Exercise in the cold is such a bummer!

Hi Linda,
Thanks for sharing and your shot of motivation from your experience. All of us need reminders to hang in there. Keep our eye focused on our goal of weight loss and maintenance.
As far as the "too thin" comments, I think that people are so used to seeing us overweight that they aren't used to the new, slender version of our bodies.
Congratulations for busting through your year stall. Full speed ahead for you!
