Back On Track Together

Compulsive Eating

Hello Everyone
I am wondering if anyone out there found themselves able to eat almost the same amount of food as they did before surgery?  And if you did were you able to get back on track with your eating and stop the grazing I choose to call it "compulsive eating" because that is what it is for me.  I cannot seem to get three meals and my snacks.  Instead, I steadily eat through out the day.
I am still working out and trying to get all my water in but other than that the food is just NOT coming along.  thanks Susie

Have no problem at all eating as much as before - and YES!!!! I am back on track and successfully losing the weight I had gained over the past year.

I can't begin to tell you how much this group means to me.  Thanks to their positiveness, caring, support and acceptance, I've been able to get back on track and stay on track.

Just because we CAN eat all that food and we fool ourselves by saying "I'm so hungry" ("head hungry" yes, "tummy hungry" NO WAY we don't even have a clue what "tummy hungry" is LOL)  doesn't mean we HAVE to eat all that food.  I can take off my clothes and be nude, but I don't do it until I jump in the shower LOL (OK, that's a silly example!).

Unfortunately, the food doesn't COME ALONG - we have to lead it ourselves UGHHH

WE CAN DO (AND ARE DOING) THIS TOGETHER!!!!

Instead of eating, sign on and talk to us.

Holy Smokes, I could totally eat like before!!!  It was terrible.  Since I have started BOTTing, I have not done it.  I told myself no more!  I read what I needed to follow.  It's been a long time since my surgery and I forgot all of the "rules". Thanks to everyone here, it's possible to get control back.
Take care.  You can do this, take one day at a time!

Wow it has been nine years since your surgery?  Is that right?  That gives me so much hope and yeah I don't have to eat so much and so often it's just getting that back to six small meals is so challenging.  what did  you do to get started.  Just curious....... and thanks for the responses and encouragement.  Susan T.

Susan,
Yep, it will be nine in September.  A few months ago, I started to research a revision.  After seeing all that's involved, I thought nope, I can't have any more surgeries.    I made an appointment at Northwestern to see a bariatric doc to see if my pouch would still work.  After a few tests, he told me that there was no "medical" reason as to why I was gaining weight. He told me to go back to basics.  That's what I did.  There were no more excuses for me.  I started with smaller meals, no complex carbs and no drinking with meals (the hardest part).  As of this morning, I have lost 15 lbs, while BOTTing.
If I can do this, anyone can do it!  Seriously...

Hi,

You might want to research the emotional issues behind your grazing.  How did it start.  What are the triggers.  Exchanging a bad habit for a good habit is a good goal.  You might want to get more support from someone who can help you identify the root cause. Huuuugzzzz

Yeah, a few people have mentioned that to me "Get some professional Help".  Yeah, been that route too and yeah maybe I should.  Because I graze all day and I really dont get it.  Doesn't make any sense to me to be eating just to be eating.  I am not hungry at all.  But I still try every day to make changes and they seem to be working lately.  Thanks  Susan T.
