Back On Track Together

My confession

Hi -- I'm new to this group and wanted to post, more as a confession than anything else. Having to write this down makes it somehow easier for me to deal with what needs to be done.

I had surgery in July of 2006, and at my best went from 281 day of surgery to 207 about nine months out. Since then I have slowly gained, and now I'm back up to 234. I have not returned to my doctor out of embarrassment. I do not take my vitamins as I should (I have tried to be better about that lately), I eat too much of the wrong things, and do not concentrate on the basics: protein, water, exercise.

I feel like SUCH a failure, and I'm battling that feeling right now. It helps to read that I'm not the only one, and I'm open to any suggestions or helpful advice to help me get back on track. I've seen people mention a back on track diet? Can someone point me to that?

Thanks for letting me put this in writing. And thanks for being so supportive.

Hi Elizabeth,
We are all here to get back on track, Welcome!  Just get back to your basics.  Protein, protein and more protein.  I find that taking my vitamins with my main meals to be the best way for me to remember.  No drinking after meals and get out and exercise.  Start documenting what you are eating.  Be strong, just being here is a great beginning!
Good luck,
Deb

Hey Elizabeth,

It's never to late to get "back on track."  Your tool is STILL there waiting on you and it sounds like you are ready once again to take your health into your own hands!!  Whatever you are struggling with if it's vitamins, getting in water, whatever, just tackle 1 thing a week.  Vow to end this week taking your vitamins.  Next week work on the water.  Add some movement to the mix, parking further away etc.

You can do this!!  And we are here to help you =)

We've all been there and done that.  It's not FAILURE, it's called being HUMAN

Don't burden yourself with the past, or what your goal weight is.  All you need is to be compliant (you have the comfort of knowing what you need to do) for 5 minutes - now we can do almost anything for 5 minutes - then when that 5 minutes is up, CELEBRATE and give yourself another 5 minutes, CELEBRATE and on and on and on and mystically, magically (well almost) you will have an hour, CELEBRATE - then a morning, CELEBRATE - then an afternoon, CELEBRATE - then a whole day, CELEBRATE - then begin all over again.  CELEBRATE all along the way - YOU DESERVE TO CELEBRATE   We all experience that staying on track for 5 minutes one day can be much more challenging than staying on track for a whole day sometimes.

Please give up beating yourself - you'd never tell a friend what you're telling yourself in your head, now would you?  For now be your friend.

If you feel yourself struggling, come back on line.  This is undoubtedly the most positive, caring, supportive, accepting group of people I've ever found.

WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER, YES WE CAN (and you are part of "we")!!!
