Back On Track Together
New Here
Hello everyone I sure hope joinginghere can help me out. I am fairly new compared to some of you i am just a little over a year out. I have maintained a weight of between 185-190 for the last 5-6 months it is driving me crazy since i am not loosing inches either. Anyway I have noticed in the last 2 months or so it seems i can eat anything i have not tried bread just because it was so addictive to me before surgery and i stay away from candy and sugar. But chips especially doritos are a downfall for me so i have asked they no longer be allowed in the house.
I can eat a whole quesidilla as in 2 low arb totrilla filled w/cheese. is this really normal? i remember when i could not even eat a soft taco i can eat the whole package of oatmeal, Maybe this is not alot but i see what some ppl put on there what they ate today and i feel like i am way out eating everyone. anyway sorry to go on so long i have to try and figure out how to start loosing the weight again today was a very bad day i hit 1400 calories and 300 of that alone was coffee. sheesh. anyway hello to all and any advice or encouragement is welcome i really did not do this to mess myself up this early out and would love all the help i can get.
Thank you all
Terri

Hi Terri,
I just wanted to say to BOTT! You are in the right place! It's amazing how fast some of our old habits can come back. It's a good thing that you caught it early. I have found that I simply can not have just 1 of a good thing. For me 1 leads to all... It's important to start journaling everything before it goes in your mouth. Make sure that you hold yourself accountable by stopping in to BOTT and writing it all out. You will see how fellow BOTTers will help you to get back on track, WITHOUT beating you up. You can do this!!!
Good luck,
Deb

Morning Terri~
First and for most, welcome to BOTT, it has already been said, but you have most definitely come to the right place! I remember the first time I realized I could eat way more then I used to/should, then I got pregger, and now my daughter is 4 months old and I am trying to get back into the 'healthy' mode!
I am not sure if you have tried the 5DPT, here is a link to it (http://www.5daypouchtest.com/), but I plan to start it on Sat. If you would like to start it at the same time we can 'lean on each other' for support....
Good luck with your journey, and remember, nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Terri,
Thank you, I think she is pretty darn cute myself, but I might be a bit biased! I am glad I have someone to do the 5DPT with, I really find I can manage it better when I know someone else is doing it with me!
Have a great day!

I'm so glad you are here
About your food - it's such a personal thing. It all depends on your body. Before I had my lap band surgery 3+ years ago I could never loose on the 1000 calories women are supposed to lose on - guess what - after surgery I still can't loose if I eat 1000 calories. That's why I do not list my food on the daily check in. If I ate the amount of calories others eat, I would GAIN. So it all depends on one's body. We still have only three ways to lose/maintain. 1. Eat fewer calories 2. Burn more calories 3. A combination of both of 1 & 2.
The old rule of get your protein and water (my dr says water - others say liquids) first. After that, add other foods. As I understand it, the main reason not to eat bread, pasta or rice is that they ball up and can not go through our openings without pain. If I go out to eat and they serve rolls, I cut off the hard lower part and discard the "fluffy" part. I can eat a small amount of pasta if I'm careful, but rice still does not go down well so I stay away from that. Those limits have served me well.
Can I hold more food that I should eat - YOU BET I CAN Unfortunately bariatric surgery isn't a magic wand (OH, how I wi**** were!!!!LOL) we still have to control what and how much we eat. Surgery does provide us a tool to make doing that ever so much easier though.
While, as a lap band patient, I do not have the physical constraint of dumping if I eat surgar, but I know if I give in and eat sugar I'm off and gaining. Do that stop me every time? Are you kidding? Of course not, but I tell you the caring and support I've gotten here has made all the difference in the worlk to me getting back on track and staying on track. I'm in the process of successfully taking off the weight I'd gained over the past year.
Again - WELCOME!!!
